Forgotten Clubs

Tin hat on with two chin straps but there is a body of opinion in Glasgow that holds Rangers are now a new outfit, Runs for cover lol

Colne Dynamos in the late 80's were taken over by a wealthy benefactor and the club rose through the NWCL and Northern Premier League. However, their ground was still a NWCL ground and in order to get into the Vauxhall Conference they needed to up grade it big style.
They were turned down by both Blackburn and Burnley in ground sharing until their ground in Colne was brought up to Conference / League standard. Burnley in particular were very hostile to Colne Dynamos - Burnley were in the 4th Division at the time and saw the Dynamos as a real threat.
The owner of Colne was so pissed off with the attitude from Blackburn and Burnley (in particular) that he took his ball and went home and pulled out of the club - which plunged back down through the pyramid leagues as fast as they had risen.

Remember Colne and I am pretty sure I saw Hyde United beat them once quite convincingly when Hyde had a decent side also with Joe Connor etc. Marine were also a decent side around that period.

Maidstone United. Rose from obscurity to play League football, 1989 - 92, before shooting themselves in the foot. The owner sold their ground as a prime redeveploment site, but without viable plans for an alternative. After a period of ground sharing in other towns, with dwindling attendances, they went tits up.

They have since re-formed, clawed their way up the minor leagues and are now in the National League - just one tier below the EFL.
