Exactly this. Jesus' work rate for the team is first class. That's why Pep likes him.He won’t be getting dropped. He’s putting in his and Neymar’s workload per game. His enormous effort allows neymar to fuck around doing what he wants with zero responsibility. Needs a goal badly but it’s unkikely to happen with neymar and Willian playing greedy ****s.

IMO he's dropping way too deep, if he takes part in a move early on for Brazil, he never gets back into the box in time to finish or be an option.
He isn't getting great service, Neymar is being a selfish bellend and Willian can't seem to put a cross in to save his life, but he's also contributing to it himself by not being there on the end of the counter-attacks Brazil are scoring most of their goals from.
Firmino got the goal yesterday because he started higher up, and could get on the end of Neymar's embarrassing shot attempt, I don't think Gabi would have gotten there.
I agree with the idea he's doing a lot for the team, but at a certain point, you have to look after yourself too, all top forwards would do that.

Firmino is well ahead Jesus in all "works hard" related stats. Total distance, max runs, tackling, interception, etc.

Not as mobile as Jesus, doesn't stretch opposition defences as much, prefers to play with his back to goal rather than off the shoulder of the last man, he doesn't suit Tite's style, he's a wonderful plan B though.
