Then what was the point of the 13 years of socialist government we had? They had their chance to deal with tax dodgers and didn't take it.

What socialist government was this?
I'm only 48, so it might have been before I was born, & not covered in the history I studied.

That looks like a child's Christmas list - is there any substance or means of paying for all that?

All costed, and if you look at it, a lot of the revenue raising streams are in the policies (stop funding the rail networks for France, Holland, Germany etc, reverse the monies going out of the NHS into private (often offshore accounts), reverse corporation tax cuts, ban firms abusing tax loopholes from tendering for government contracts (G4s, Serco, ATOS, Virgin, etc etc), building 100,000 council house (reduce unemployment in the building and supply trades, cut the cost of HB, youth training schemes to give hope to our next generation and reduce mental health problems).
The policies Labour have are good or great for the vast majority of the electorate, but, as the established elite would suffer, you won't hear this in the MSM, which is why I will be interested to see how many of the 300,000+ new members of the Labour party are out on the streets and knocking doors to get the message out there.
IF they can turn this election into a "state of the nation" debate rather than solely on Brexit (of which we can't be told the plans as it would weaken the bargaining position with the EU), then it might not be the tory landslide many predict.

In simplistic terms the population is rising, we are living longer and the revenue that is being raised in taxes isn't enough hence the problems. If as a business you require £1,000 p.w. to break even but you are only taking £750 p.w then something has to give or you borrow to make up the difference and then end up paying back more than you borrow. It doesn't help that many big corporations avoid paying the tax they should and millions are being siphoned off by people conning the system. By all means work hard, earn a fortune etc but pay your dues. Equally if you qualify for benefits then fine, if you don't then tough.
You are spot on with that, but its the debate that will never happen. If the public are told we need to pay more tax to have decent public services, health and education, the public might start to ask awkward questions about corporate taxation.
Much easier to quietly run up national debt and run services into the ground so we can pay less tax and the corporates pay nothing. We have kids that can deal with this when they grow up.

I prefer to call him a Scottish Nationalist ****, as all Scot Nat's are.

I presume I'm allowed to do that as he's referred to Tories as the same.

Have you ever actually met any? I think you might find a few who you wouldn't deem cunts.

Some lovely people up here you know.

There are indeed I have met many over many fantastic climbing and walking trips in the highlands. Then there are people like Sturgeon and her ilk, the phychophantic drum beaters like you magic pole who are filled with hate and bile.

Mayday Mayday is shiting yellow at the prospect of facing up to debate. Sturgeon would tear her a new one. You have all been taken in by the right wing press making her out to be Boudica.

It's like a bigging up a prize fighter then he goes in the ring and gets his face smashed in.

If she refuses to meet Sturgeon in debate she will be a coward and all her hype will come crashing around her shitey arse and all the Tory Boy's on here trying to justify why she shouldn't shows you they know she would be mauled.

She's a 'great leader'....well let's fucking see her or she is all right wing hype?

Big tough negotiator too scared to debate?

Do me a favour. If she shites out of it the people will see her as a bottle merchant. And who needs a bottle merchant leading any fucking thing?

Over to you Mayday Mayday. The country's eyes are on you.
Why would she debate with Sturgeon? She's a member of the Scottish parliament not Westminster.

She'll be PM without a shadow of a doubt but a TV debate is the one forum where you get to see party leaders together and, while they're armed with soundbites, also have to think on their feet. Sturgeon and Clegg both hugely enhanced their political careers by their performances in televised debates.
She'll be on the telly in debates with selected members of the public, that make up the views of the current UK electorate, answering their questions so she will be challenged with proper questions.
Lets face it, debate with umpteen party leaders are effing useless anyway - Kindergarten politics.

Totally disagree about the debate(s) as covered in my previous post.

I agree that this is a GE and not a 2nd Brexit referendum so the scope should be a range of other key issues. I am very sure that you/we will hear a lot more about other important policies, e.g. education, as she will want to secure a mandate for those policies as well rather than have to fight them in Westminster post-election.

The right and proper thing though is that these policies should be set out in the party manifesto - that has been the way for generations - debates are very recent development and do and should not replace the setting out of manifestos.

all we seem to be getting though is Brexit - strong leadership - coalition of chaos - May feels she knows where her strengths lie and its not the current state of the NHS, nor schools funding nor care for the elderly and so on. Sir Linton will try and see to it these are kept away from any argument and any debate during the campaign. Already it looks like she is angling for a one woman Q&A rather than a debate doubtless with a hand picked audience so she can answer off her script - something she does well.
