Neville/Giggs's plans for Manchester city centre.

The frightening thing about those images is that artist impressions normally look at least twice as good as the finished article - what the fuck will they actually look like when finished, and let's face it, they'll get the go ahead from our shithouse council.

Why don't they do something like these that we have over here.
They could call them the chris smalling towers.

Looks like horrible cheap social housing blocks from the 70's. Surely architects these days can come up with something better than those eye sores.

Was going to reply with something very similar to this.

I don't agree with the sympathy for what is there. It is the back end of a shitty street with nothing going for it. The pub is not unlike a 100 other pubs around Manchester.

Agreed. The police station is derelict with only the front face on Southmill Street with any architectural merit. The synagogue is falling down and would need millions spending on it if it were to stay and the only original part of the Abercromby are some of the outside walls; the rest has been gutted and refurbished several times. There's no architectural gems in that block. The only thing worth discussing is the proposed new design and that's a matter of personal taste.
