The entire British media is running it.

They'll have been digging around for some time, and the fact that none have come up with any horror stories (for us) is reassuring

From the Guardian

Manchester City are unconcerned at the delay in appointing Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager and maintain that the arrival of the 59-year-old remains a formality.

Pellegrini held talks in Spain last week with City's sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, the chief executive, Ferran Soriano, and the academy head, Brian Marwood, but, while personal terms have been agreed and transfer targets discussed, his appointment has yet to be confirmed.

City have refused to comment on whether contractual issues between Pellegrini and his former club Málaga are responsible for the hold-up but are adamant the deal to replace Roberto Mancini with the former Villarreal and Real Madrid coach is not under threat and will be announced shortly.

The Premier League runners-up have signed Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk for £30m and the Spain international Jesús Navas for an initial £14.9m from Sevilla since opening talks with Pellegrini, while Carlos Tevez's agent, Kia Joorabchian, is reported to be in Italy to discuss the striker's future with Milan and Juventus.

That's an off-the-record briefing by the club. The same kind of briefing which never came about mancini's future, and some of us kept saying was significant, and so it proved..

I'm a big fan of Pellegrini ever since his days at Villareal. So when it was known he would come to us, I was a happy man. Ever since I've gone through the various cycles of emotions, but never doubted it wouldn't happen. It will. Some day. Soon. I think. 1-7-2013 it is than.

Why don't Malaga just pay him his wages? Surely the amount they owe him would come to much less than £3M. It doesn't make sense at all.

I imagine they will as it will be much less than £3.2M, but I also imagine that they will leave it until the last possible day, awkward twats

Didsbury Dave you are so clever.

You predicted over 12 months ago that mancini would get the sack, and over the course of the average tenure of a football manager you were eventually right. For your next trick you could tell us that Pellegrini will be sacked before he is even appointed and of course you will eventually be proved right.

I'd rather be blinded by loyalty.

One of my pet hates is turning on 606 on the radio and listening to the clamour from Arsenal and Chelsea fans to sack their manager

Like I said yesterday a total farce. Surely we knew all if this when we were poaching around him for the last 6 months? So this begs another question. Are Fernandinho and Jesus Pellegrini signings or ones the chairman wants to play for us? I hope we aren't becoming the new Chelsea where the board want a player and the manager has to make it work - like Torres and Shevchenko.
The club have to tread very carefully here. People havily criticised the club executives over the perceived handling of the Mancini sacking so you can hardly complain if they're being more cautious this time.

There are third parties who want to disrupt us as much as possible at the moment and are waiting for a chance to screw this deal up if one presents itself. They are probably whispering in the Malaga's President's ear so we have to be extra careful we don't trip up this time. Pellegrini is 99% coming to City but we don't want to trigger that 1%.

The great thing about having a Director of Football is that the manager/coach is usually selected because he represents concepts created by the DOF. Its never going to be a Hughes-to-Mancini scenario where we have to completely revamp, we just hire a manger with the same concepts we've been striving for (but can execute them to detail)... Unless of course we fire the DoF. Then were... well effed.

With the DoF making the decisions on players and strategy and then handing it over to the manager to produce the results, I'm reminded of the Referee/Linesman relationship; The referee can commit suicide, but his linesman can commit murder. For referee read manager, etc'....

Is it Barca causing trouble in the background?

Don't get that. Malaga have a new coach. Can the Malaga president block the deal to City, and even if he could, why would he?
