Anyone recall Manchester United basketball team, playing at Stretford leisure centre? Originally the Giants but then franchised into the rags..... didn't last long.

As a Salford season ticket holder, it'd be really weird having a "City" team in the game too. If the club was serious about it, the RFL would welcome the investment into the game and no doubt they'd be playing in Super League within a couple of seasons.

They aren't going to be "City". They're not a City project, they have many different backers. They are the rebirth of the old Broughton Rangers (Salford) then Belle Vue Rangers (dog stadium) who won a championship and two Challenge Cups way back.

They've moved into the Regional Athletics Stadium but I'm not sure of the extent of City's "backing" if there even is any, as they say they have a number of local businesses behind them and City isn't mentioned at all as one of them.

They are currently in North West Men's League Division 4 which is about the 12th tier so no sweat on SL just yet.
