We can make cheap shots about other countries being 'backward' but in Britain it's acceptable and legal to mutilate a baby boy in the name of religion! Imagine if that was reported in another country. "Barbaric foreigners chop off parts of children for their own religious gratification!" There would be outrage.
Should we respect other cultures even when it conflicts with our own or do we have a duty to change them? It's a moral minefield. Do we go round 'correcting' everyone we share the planet with or accept that they will treat people appallingly because that's what they believe in?
