David Silva - 2016/17 performances

He was the only player vs Liverpool that wanted the ball. He was excellent in the second half.

He was exceptional against Arsenal.

The reason we're behind Chelsea.
Leicester, awful display, no more so than Guardiola.
Chelsea, awful officiating. + 3 to us and -3 for Chelsea. I doubt Aguero & Fernandinho would have seen red had we rightly won. I think Leicester would have been a different game too, had we rightly and fairly beat Chelsea.
We were also cheated and there's no other word for it agaist Spurs. +2.
So with just 2 games being played to the rules, we'd have 5 more points minimum & Chelsea 3 less.
We'd be level.

People often mistake Silva as not playing well if he's not creating. He can't create without movement.
He and YaYa are the two players who constantly demand the ball no matter the score and no matter the way they are playing.
Silva is not only our best player but he's our bravest too.
He can't run every game, he can't excell every week, even Messi doesn't do that.

Great post

Missing easy chances in the box is why we're behind Chelsea, simple as.

The home draws at the start too against, Everton, Boro and Soton. Especially the Everton game.

Missed him yesterday.

For all the talk of Merlin being past it, we certainly don't look the same side without his guile and inventiveness.

David and Sané seem to have built up a very good understanding already, but without Silva's creativity, Leroy wasn't able to impose himself on the opposition as he does when the Spanish magician is alongside him.

+1. I've never really found it necessary to criticise Silva vehemently, not because he can do no wrong, but because he so rarely does. He has been our most consistently good player over the last five years. Even his not-very-good is only not very good by his standards, and remains a cut above about 80% of all other midfielders in the PL. It's a joy to watch this relationship he's developing with Sane. He's absolutely loving playing with him.

Do you remember, a couple of years ago. Soreness saying he'd rather have David Silva at 75% than most players at 100%?

2 weeks too late, Deg, I held my hands up also (:

As mentioned earlier, by playing deeper we can now discount his lack of goal threat and take in his (never in doubt) ability to orchestrate. People are too quick to judge in general, the same has been done by many on Yaya, yet they don't show the same courtesy because he 'disrespected the club'.. Bollocks..

Does anyone, for one minute, feel that a person wants to be proven right when 'their opinion', repeat 'their opinion' is reinforced? Nonsense, it's subjective and I for one am glad to be proved wrong as it benefits the common denominator we all want... Success for city!!!

Haha, I was quiiiite sauced that night. Having a little fun with you as I knew you'd have a nice snarky little response for me :).

Couldn't agree more with this. I really hope I'm wrong about Kun (I got yaya right though!). I think we're in the same POV with Kun as we we're with Dave, but anyway.

I'll tell you what, in his own way he rolls his sleeves up and digs in to win us games. Remarkable footballer and remarkable man.
