Raheem Sterling - 2016/17 performances

Would be nice to see a decent performance from him against the dippers.

Those fuckers really did a number on him when he left and it seems to have left its mark whenever he plays against them.

What was he doing with that one on one? It's not the first time he's done this. Infuriating, spent all second half screaming at the tv because of that. Them sort of chances is what will define him as a good player or a top class player. Needs to put his foot through the ball more often.

Was not his best game by a large margin but without his shot on goal Sane would never have had that tap in. Even when he plays shite he still usually produces something that leads to a goal.

Still yet to hit the heights of his Liverpool days IMO. The Sterling who played for them would have buried that chance where he dillied, dallied, then passed it.

Lad needs to pull the trigger more often, a bit to often he tried the pas over a shot. Really hope he turns up vs Liverpool !

The worrying thing is that he's played over 200 career games now and his shooting and final ball are pretty much exactly where they were when he was 17.

People on here have convinced themselves that all of a sudden Sterling is going to wake up one day and voila he can finish like Messi. Not gonna happen. Any time he has to do any thinking in front of goal he is a disaster. He just isnt a "killer". Simple as that.

Needs to look along the line and not be caught offside, and he needs to learn that his defensive duties don't stop at our eighteen-yard-line.

Can a side as ambitious as ours afford to have a player in their front three that doesn't want to shoot?

Terrible game last night, nothing came off for him and he looked short on confidence again.

Thankfully we're playing at home Sunday, the perfect game/opportunity to make amends.

if he sorted out his shooting/final ball, which is getting better, he'd be unstoppable.
Much like Navas, I don't think he ever will.

I think, for a 22 year old, Sterling is a pretty average player on the wider world stage. It's like he's got cotton wool in his skull at times. Some of his passing and shooting is just dreadful.

Doesnt take much for this thread to revert to type.

Wasnt his best game but he's been brilliant for us this season. And still has his best years ahead of him.

It always reverts to type because he's always putting in these performances in many of the big games. He's been better for us this season, but I wouldn't say brilliant. He's had the odd brilliant games but I'm constantly looking st him and thinking he's not at the level of the other players around him.
