Chelsea (a) post match thread

Chelsea looked far more threatening in the second half than we did and it was evident with the chance Hazard missed. It's hilarious that you can actually defend that shower of shite that we served up last night.
Fuck me you still going on?
Shower of shite, we were far the better side & lost, get over it instead of whinging like a 5 year old who has just pissed his pants

be serious. There were aspects of our game that were good, although as ever it's let down by weakness at both ends of the pitch. The starting point is that when you can retain the ball under pressure in the home of the Champions elect, you do have something going for you. It does get frustrating to watch when you have seen this so many times, but all the same, it does tell me that we aren't that far off.

Huge plus Kompany coming back like that. Will help shore the defence up. Goal-scoring might improve soon, if the Jesus we saw can reproduce his early City form. Put him in front of the 1st half City midfield we'll score plenty.

Again ask Conte or his players if they felt we attacked like pedestrians last night?

Standards haven't slipped massively as we scraped 4th last season and we sit 4th now but football wise, i feel we are miles better than last season i honestly do.

Even BT sports who fucking hate us complimented our attacking play last night with Hoddle of all people saying its the best there is.

Courtois made one save in the second half. They had Pedro at RWB and he wasn't tested once. Standards have slipped when people say top four is a good season, it isn't. It's shite and this season has been appalling which was compounded with our pathetic showings v Arsenal and Chelsea.

The difference is Chelsea got exactly the right manager for their team and we didn't, next season that hopefully won't be the case. The fact I'm not bothered by the result speaks volumes. The only game I'm remotely interested in is the cup semi.
Which going by the season so far we will probably lose despite having 80% of the ball

The pragmatism or lack of pragmatism debate is a bit irrelevant, for one thing we don't have the players to be pragmatic, even when we limit the opposition's possession as we do in most games we still concede very "bad" goals. Last night was a classic case, two utterly avoidable goals conceded through poor defensive play. We can live with that if we're firing them in at the other end but as Pep said we weren't good enough in either area.

He did. he said our attacking play was at times fantastic but he does wonder if we work on our defending

Of course we do but when you have a 2nd choice keeper, you miss your Captain, and both full backs are in their 30s, you could work all day, and play 2 Kantes in midfield and still leak goals.

There are aspects to our game which are very very good. There is a real purpose to our play now that was lacking last season, but it's ultimately flawed and I don't think Guardiola can do anything about it until we get to the Summer window. I am enjoying watching City again. Last season was listless and never ending, but we've got a coach now who knows what he is doing. He's just not a miracle worker.

Sums up the position we are in right now perfectly.

i'm surprised this post match thread has got so many posts. we were the better team and we lost, it happens. what's the fuss about?

Come on that's to sensible an answer....

It's far from shite and as others have already alluded to, if you can't see the progress that's occurring then you're not looking hard enough. If you think also think we've been shite in the 2 games v Chelsea then you should start watching Lacrosse.

Cracking post that mate. Good debating.

You can't be debated with, you're entrenched in your view that it's shite, the fact you're so wide of the mark is why it's not worth discussing.

If we just changed the fullbacks this summer we'd be 10 points better off so god help the rest of the league once the wholesale changes at the back have been be made.

Chelsea were turgid, typical Italian tactics.

We do ourselves no favours but we will kick-on with two decent full-backs to start with.

Thought Vinny and Stones looked very comfortable with Costa.

Delph was excellent but he's a very underrated player with a terrible injury record.

Please no more Clichy.
