Chelsea (a) post match thread

Comparing Conte and Guardiola is ridiculous though, Conte was always going to get better results in the short term. If Guardiolas football was easy to implement then everyone would be playing it, the point of it is how good it is once it's embedded, which takes time (and players capable of doing it, which is what we will get in the summer and continue to get).

Even just having Jesus and Gundogan fit and we'd be a lot better than we are now, let alone having half decent fullbacks.

Pep says he "absolutely" believes City were the better team and is happier with this performance than the Arsenal one, despite the result.

I totally agree but could our back 4 defend like Chelsea - throwing elbows etc. of course not. Any contact from a City defender results in a free kick and usually a yellow card. In both games against Chelsea the rules have been applied differently to the two teams. We don't defend well but we can't have ANY contact.
Spot on,was again the same tonight countless fouls from Chelsea and a few snide ones as well, but as soon as we tackle it's a free kick straight away or a booking Chelsea like most teams the ref gives them a few warnings then books if he has to,and someone posted the nailed on pen for Chelsea which it was,but if that had happened other end of the pitch play on or city player booked,we actually could have had a possible shout when Cahill wrestled with kompany in the box, strange as dean couldn't contain himself to give these type of pens earlier in the season..

I fully back Pep but have to say he is making so many mistakes this season. Biggest disappointment has been his use of subs from bench. We don't seem to have a plan B. Really disappointed Sterling wasn't brought on much earlier, ditto Yaya and the decision to jettison hart looks worse with every game we play as caballero poor for both goals tonight. Oh well, that's the tough 3 game run done, let's get top 4 nailed and an FA cup win. Happy with delph performance tonight, looked better than Fernandinho who has been poor for months.

Pep is the best in the business and over the coming years you will look back at nights like this and think of your over reactions and just laugh!
He won't, he fancies himself as a football coach when really he's just a bit of a dick.

Sorry mate but I am sick of spending a fortune flying round the country to watch slow boring build up play that patently doesn't work. And don't just say "don't go then" I have been going 35 years and whilst we are in such a lucky position compared to most of that we are not making he most of it. Pep has no different tactics. They had no interest in attacking second half so we keep all our defenders and defensive midfielders on - why?
Obviously just to piss you off. It seems to have worked.

But I thought Pep was the great man manager?

And so did/do I. But has he got the grit and determination, win at all costs mentality, to succeed in the Premier League. Under Mancini we played Stoke three times in close succession. Once in the league and twice in the cup. They kicked lumps out of us and Mancini's only complaint was that we were not strong enough to win that particular battle. He knew we needed to dominate teams. I hope Pep is starting to realise that. Pretty teams win nothing, ask Arsenal.
