Boro Post Match thread

As has been mentioned I am sure, without Silva looks like we are trying to cracking a nut with a sledgehammer and missing. Previously we would have slotted Yaya in there but he plays so deep these days he doesn't do it either. With no full backs overlapping we are faced with relying on Sane and Sterling, when we don't even start them it's mission impossible for Aguero and or Jesus as there will be 6 defenders which you can throw a tea towel over in the middle. Looking at the starting line up yesterday I am at a loss as to where it was suppose to happen.

I felt sorry for Garcia, he finally gets a chance to slot in midfield and Pep changes the entire system ffs.

Good post 'Danish Blue'. How often, this year, have ordinary fans read the team sheet before a game and thought "How is this team going to win this match?". Failure to prepare properly for a game by underestimating the opposition has and will in the future prepare for failure. Will Pep learn from mistakes? Time will tell?

Is Delph injured again ? Though he gave us great energy and a goal threat in the two games he started, if his injured then I'm afraid he's another sick note who along with Gundegon, who I think is a great player, who we can't afford to carry, need more research in players injury record before we sign them. Delph was only fit regularly in his last season at Villa and unfortunately got Gundogen cheap because of his injury record over the past two years. Can't afford passengers if you going to win major honours, Sergio not injured this season since Pep had a pop at him is this a coincidence?

Aside from YAYA,is any player any better now after Pep's coaching, than they were 12 months ago ?

Which players have regressed ?
Spot on, but sadly that doesn't pacify the "I want to win everything now" fans
Nothing wrong with a realistic level of expectation.

We've failed abjectly to kick on after 93-20.

Yesterday was piss poor and the points were thrown away in the first half with that team selection and system. We were better second half but really overall it was horrendous to watch.

I appreciate there's been a lot of praise for their individual performances but for me Aguero and Jesus cannot play together in a Pep team. Not well and not consistently well to the extent that it'll be something we use regularly. On that basis I hope he fucks it off for the rest of the season and goes back to what we've done well. Play 433 with one striker and choose who you'd prefer Kun or Jesus.

This summer's 'overhaul' better be worthy of the description 'overhaul' because it's painful watching Pep trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Have you seen our results since the last time we played Boro away in the cup. I`m very concerned we wont get in the Champions League and the effect it would have on our ability to purchase the players we need to compete with the best.

Look at them since the first defeat at Spuds.

It's a bloody good job we had a good start.

6 goals in a CLQF & we can't win. Don't get me started !!

" don't try to make a pig with lipstick sing. You'll upset the pig and frustrate the teacher. Under the lippy it's still a pig "

Our problems at fullback continue to be highlighted. Navas and Clichy need their P45s and will get them in the summer.
We also need more creative players.
If Silva and/or Gundogan had been available yesterday I think it would have been a different game. The time is ripe to bring in Isco with rumours of his unhappiness at RM...

Because surely, he would have to compromise his style this season to do that. So you advocate we dont start his style till next season whereby the whole team(whoever that might be), has to land running. No- for me he is right to stick with his principles this season to give us a good start for next. We should still make chumps league doing it this way, so no real damage done imo.
I completely agree that it's right for the manager to play his style no matter what. It may be frustrating as it looks like giving points up at the expense of implementing a strategy, something I doubt managers like Conte or dare I say Mancini would ever do. We have to see it through to the bitter end now though.

What I would say is that this isn't the first season of implementing this style. It's pretty clear now at the previous manager used his final year, not only signing Guardiola players but readying the squad for Guardiola, using similar tactics.

Pep will probably sign a contract extension in the summer
Players will leave and players will arrive in the summer
His team next season
Playing his way
Not great this season, I think he's learnt a lot about the premier league and you can guarantee he will work hard to get the results we all want

Where's the evidence to support your last sentence. He keeps making the SAME mistakes but with DIFFERENT players.

I'm still very confident of finishing 3rd.
I'm still very confident Pep will turn it round next year. We are favourites with every bookies to win the title next year which means that independent experts believe we are much better than a lot on here think.
Let's not turn into rags and start pissing our pants every time things don't go right. We used to admired world wide for our loyalty. Let's ride out this storm and come back fighting next year.

Finishing THIRD......15 points behind Chelsea !
Just let that sink in a minute
