Brain dead player, makes enough terrible mistakes to fit right in with our current defence, but is helped out by his speed and Pochetino's system. Spending big money on him would be a huge mistake. I know we need a RB, badly, but Walker isn't the answer, especially considering how much he'd cost

Also I seem to recall him saying he didn't like playing under AVB because Villas Boas gave a lot of instructions, whereas Sherwood just told him to go out there and play his game. Not exactly the sort of mentality that would go well with Pep

I couldn't agree more mate TBH , the team lacks a backbone , Peps said it himself - you need a strong element of homegrown / English players in the side , he had it at Barca and he had it at Bayern , United spent decades hoovering up the best English talent - it's our turn before they get a foothold and do it again.
It's much easier to have a backbone of German or Spanish players and still compete for the Champions League.

I'd rather us overpay for hardworking English technical talent that will give the dressing room a backbone than fly by night mard arses who have nothing but technical ability and know nothing of what makes the PL level

I'd throw £100m on the table for Ali and see what Levy makes of that- because if we don't then United or Chelsea will do just that either this season or the next.
Hes been consistantly peforming at a high level now for the past 4 years or so and crucially knows the league and can handle the pace and intensity which is vital for the modern FB role, i think weather the fee is 20m or 50m thats irelevent as he's worth whatever anyone is willing to pay, but he's a massive upgrade on our current right backs

How old is walker 27/28 ish ? up to 50m to have the same problem in 2 yrs when he too hits 30 and slows up,time we brought younger fullbacks who can mature together and stay a long time

I'm on board with this way of thinking also, never been a fan. That being said, Harry Kane sounds as thick as two short planks and I'd have him up front in a heartbeat ;)

He 27 at the end of May

4/5 seasons left in him
Thanks, if we let him go over 30 we will have zabba and clichy situation all over again,i would be going for 24/25 yr olds instead not to mention i think he is a typical english player, mostly crap

Maffeo could be the backup and by the time Walker regresses we'll have Maffeo entering his prime.

I know mate , i should rate him but I really don't,i must be mad :)

I share your view mate. And every time I see him with an England shirt on, just reinforces the point in my mind too; decent prem striker, but no way a world/Euro elite player. Of course when Barca come in with an £80 million bid for him this summer I'll be reconsidering ;-)

Whenever I watch Harry Kane, I can't see what all the fuss is about, but you can't argue with his goalscoring record. He's done it for too consistently to be a fluke now. His goals to shots ratio is phenomenal. He's still only 23 and is the sort of player that could play into his 30s. He wouldn't really fit into our team, but if I was the Conte or Mourinho, I'd make him my number one target.

Yeah, but would you pay £50m for that? Paying £50m for Stones makes sense. If it works out, we get a good 10 years out of him. If it doesn't, we get a good chunk of that back. If Walker is available for the lower of the two suggested figures, then it'd be worth a shot, but if they insist on £50m, we could probably get a longer-term solution for that money.

The guys a knobhead but over the past year or two only Carvajal has been better than him. I'll take having a knobhead if he is good.
