Pep: I would have been sacked at Barca or Bayern.

Lets hope he's learned his lessons then...
1. Stop being so pig headed about selecting players who are clearly crap.
2. Be more pragmatic when we play other top 6 clubs - Only in one game, Barca at home, did he show any pragmatism.
3.Stop being a Tinkerman constantly chopping and changing players. I know you need to rotate to keep the team fresh but Pep has taken it to whole new levels.
4. He says Tiki-Taka is possession without penetration! Well mix it up more then instead of getting the players to continually serve it up.
5. Stop underestimating the opposition. You take players off when the job has been done against the lesser lights - you don't start with the 2nd 11!
6. His timing of Substitutions is shocking. Each sub needs 15 mins to get up to speed and deliver (aside from injuries snd resting players when a game has been won by subbing them off).

I don't like him how he sometimes talks about us as a club, it's infuriating.

I want Pep to stay and be successful but without any context it's a pretty disrespectful thing to say to the owner, if I went into work tomorrow and told my boss that if I performed this shitty at my previous job they would've fired me...it really wouldn't go over too well

We are a smaller club than those teams though, I don't see the issue?

He is being honest and realistic. That is the reality at Barca, Bayern or Real. Look at Ancelotti, probably the best manager in the world, sacked from Real a year after winning the Champions League for them the first time in 12 years. You cannot be a runner up at these clubs and leagues.

We are growing financially and as a global fanbase, and have had recent success. But we're not a giant club like United, Liverpool, Real, Barca, Bayern. That is the fact, and it'll take a long time and sustained success on domestic and European fronts to achieve that. These clubs have been doing it for 30 years, some as much as nearly a century.

The only thing I see as annoying is that as an employer it would seem a bit of a strange comment, speaking of previous employers in that comparison. But who cares, it is a realistic comment and we are in a great position with a top coach and tactician. He wants to achieve here and most likely will do, given time. Mountain out of a molehill.

Are we as big as Bayern or Barcelona? No.
Is the EPL as easy to win as the German or Spanish leagues for these clubs? No.

Not politic, but not untrue, either.

We've been champions of England 4 times, never been to a CL or European cup final, compared to the expectation's at Barcelona and Bayern we are small fry. So much outrage from the offended smacked arse's. We have the foundation's in place, but we are years away from being a giant of the European game.

Why does he need to say it---I would imagine most City fans and all fans of other clubs know Bayern and Barca are bigger than City

Not sure what you've been watching to think we have no penetration. We slice through teams like butter most weeks. Missing chances not the same as "tiki-taka"

I'll not overreact too much to quotes like these, and I'll also not be too critical of this 1st season in charge.

Pep is not stupid, he will learn from what worked and what didn't. I'll judge him at the end of next season.

He may be right compared to Barca and Bayern , but he is pretty much calling us a small club here.

One of Pep's weaknesses is he doesn't seem to have much respect for us fans in my opinion.

Constantly calling us out on attendance and sometimes atmosphere if I remember correctly.

It's not a weakness he's calling as he sees it and he's dead right our home support is crap for a supposedly top European club.

Lets get it right. Pep was handed some right shite players who were well passed their best. Its his chance now to change it in the summer and create the squad he wants.

I'm not sure he will be able to do it in one window I think it might be a couple of years before we start seeing results.

I would expect improvement though.

Improvement is the key within yourself and your competition.

We might end up 12 points better than last year and that is improvement and in some seasons would have won you a title but this season only good enough for third place.

We might end up fifth having secured 9 points more than last year we shall see but many would argue out football is better and some players that have been at the club for a while have played better football than in recent seasons.

Titles is the name of the game however and Pep ultimately like any manager at this club will be judged by titles in Particular the big two and the FA Cup behind them.

The club has the responsibility to give him what he needs to given him the best chance to achieve silverware.

I think better things are ahead and the owners will give him the time like they did with the previous two to do that.

If you are are outraged at this then think about what you would rather he say...the opposite maybe?

"I think we have done excellent"

"We are right up there with the big clubs of Europe now"

"I don't think I'd have done anything differently this season. I think we pretty much got it spot on"

"Challenging on all fronts was the objective when I came here and I can safely say I nailed it"

Doesn't work does it.

So then what the fuck do you want him to say?

Because he thinks we are a small club with no history he doesn't feel under pressure to deliver immediately and has therefore fucked around with formations, players etc.

Hopefully he now understands that there are no third chances at City.
He did a ton of experimenting at Bayern. They just have much better players and a much easier route to success.

I do understand why lifelong City fans are soooo touchy about this subject -- had to deal with abuse from Utd fans for a long time. But it comes across as quite petty and smalltime to get so bent out of shape about it in 2017. City is a small club compared to Bayern and Barca and a few others. That will take 20-30 years of sustained success to change and then City will still be much smaller but no longer "small."

Agree, but why even say it?

We are not Barca, but equally we are not espanyol or real betis either. I sometimes think that is what this project feels like for the 3 amigos.

We had come along this journey before they came we spent a lot of money, built a fantastic stadium and infrastructure and won a few trophies.

The rags and media will jump on this. Again pr dept should know better.

Edit : it is all over the press.
