Neymar

For the next round of domestic rights I don't see how Sky can justify a higher bid to their shareholders given the downward trend in viewing figures. BT are slightly different in that they more or less acknowledged that the PL bid was a loss leader to increase fibre broadband take-up so if they persist with that policy they may take a larger chunk of the packages. The overseas rights are a different matter as the interest doesn't seem to have peaked yet so there may be scope for an increase there.

There might be a downward trend here but you are right about the foreign viewing figures. They take the feed from SKY and there are markets in the world that lap it up. That's on the increase and covers any loss they make in figures here.

Is it just me that thinks Neymar, whilst being a good player and capable of world class moments and performances isn't at the level this fee suggests. I mean Sergio on his day or Neymar?

Call me daft but I'm more excited about the player Sane could be than what Neymar is now.

He's marginally better than a one in two in la liga where Messi and Ronaldo are goal a game players. They are different planet granted but Neymars record is like a Griezman (another I dont think that much of) who is realistically a £70/80m player in this market.

It's not just you mate I don't see it either, maybe it's just my age and apathy kicking in but I am more than happy with Sane and Aguero.

Messi's stats, global appeal, contribution is miles ahead of anywhere Neymar could get to. In a few years, or one hell of a season (as with Mmuffine), Baby Jesus has as much chance as Neymar, especially as PSG doesn't have the same high profile the Basque Rags do.
I don't watch Barcelona or Brazil a lot but when I do I am more impressed by Neymar than anyone else on the pitch. He is a truly gifted player. And he's miles further down the road than Jesus. Jesus has a great future ahead but I'm not sure he'll ever have the natural ability of Neymar. Neymar imo is a once in a generation type - just like Messi.

Far too early to say that.

Agreed.

Is it really sustainable?

The Tv bubble will burst one day and ticket prices won't make a ripple in this sort of spend.

What's Mbappe worth this week after this?

A lot fucking more than what you paid for the haircut thats for sure.

Worry about your own spending and bubble bursting, we are just fine.

If revenue goes down clubs will spend less. It doesnt really matter if it's sustainable as there is no requirement to continue spending at current levels.

Personally think revenue is only going to increase anyway.

Wages would be the only possible problem, but then there would have to be a serious drop in football funding, for that to actually be a problem.

It's funny though, that it's all suddenly a 'problem' now, but it wasn't a 'problem' when Leeds Utd (a 'history' club to match all the others) pretty much bankrupted themselves trying to get into the Champions League Cartel & have never been a serious contender since.

It was perfectly ok, forthat to happen, without the regulators being arsed, because pretty much all the clubs they wanted at the top, were there.

They must have moved to the other side of the country.
I think he meant Catalan. The Basque region is on the Atlantic coast. Catalonia the Mediterranean.

No one batted a fucking eyelid when the Rags paid £75m for Lukaku, who I'd say is around half the talent of Neymar, and probably around 5% of the marketability of him. Oh, fuck it, let's be honest, Lukaku will be £90m. So, I'd suggest it's Mourinho's fault that PSG had to pay £200m.

Amazing that none of of the media have drawn this obvious parallel.

Good luck to him. If United or Real Madrid were paying this sort of money it would be celebrated
