Neymar

I can see CAS being rather busy in the coming months!

I think PSG should be pulled up if the money is coming as rumoured via some iffy deal to pay Neymar 300m as a WC ambassador but that's for UEFA to decide. If PSG are just shelling out the £200m directly then La Liga should just shut up and take the money.

UEFA or FIFA? Transfers surely are a FIFA matter, they seem to be very quiet about this transfer? Additionally there appears to be two issues, one involving perceived way around FFP and the other is wholly a tax issue. If Neymar is being given the money to buy himself out, surely he has to pay tax on that somewhere?

Really ? That's fucking ridiculous. Isn't that envoking the Webster ruling ? Surely there is no precedent in Spain of buyout clauses solely being paid by the player.

I don't think you could make this shit up lol
Not really, the player signs a contract and only the player can buy himself out of the contract, it's always been the case in Spanish release clauses.

So much fucking hearsay with this transfer its hard to spot the facts.

Of course I think it's fucking funny that Barca are getting a kick in the teeth, however if it's being done by some really shady goings on then it's not going to end well.

Just read an article and I believe their whole argument behind refusing the cash is that PSG are infringing FFP rules. That's absolute horseshit, they can't know that PSG won't sell players to the sum of what they spend on Neymar. They only have to stay under a 30m loss and I think that's very realistic

The thing is by doing this they are harming Barca. They need the money in so they can buy his replacement but by dragging this out they're making that impossible for them.

Doubtful, banks will provide them the funds no problem based on Neymar's eventual fee

Truth is that there is nothing to prevent Neymar's lawyers to just deposit the funds in a notarized trust account and seal the deal this way. Should be noted that the difference between PSG & Neymar paying the fee are the taxes (€70 million)

I think you're getting mixed up mate, this part about Neymar paying it is related to this shady so-called deal where Qatar are paying him to promote the World Cup.

Which sounds exactly like the shady kind of deals mooted on here for Nike to contribute towards us signing Messi etc.

Except if it's 'shady' we wouldn't be able to do it, & nor will PSG.

Google it Spanish football release clause
The player must pay the release clause to li Liga, usually the buying club have given the money to the player first

It won't happen, but Barca would be absolutely laughing if they got coutinho and hazard for neymar.

I think UEFA need to look into the legality of these very high buyout clauses then if they expect players to fund their moves. It seems like an impossible situation and imo a breach of rights. You either lower the clauses to a realistic sum or you allow clubs to fund moves.

It's well dodgy

This just makes those in charge of La Liga look like a bunch of smacked arses. Maybe realising their product is not as great as they thought.
They're worried that their product won't be as good when Neymar leaves. When players like him go it can have a knock on effect. Others leave and TV deals inevitably suffer.

Anything other than UEFA jumping in and telling La Liga/Barca to suck it up can only be seen as discriminating against the French League and PSG.

Javier Tebas said: "Although PSG didn't pay the clause we will denounce them. We advised the PSG president what we were going to do and we saw PSG's policy continue along the same line. They cannot make a number in which their commercial rights are greater than those of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Nobody believes this."

That should go straight to court imo.

The quote that sums up FFP.

It was always about keeping the status quo at the top and protecting the brands.

They didn't give a shit that United could spend £30 million on a teenager 12 years ago or £30 million on a CB.

Just like they don't care about Madrid and Barcelona spending £80+ million on players.

What they have always cared about is making sure other clubs cannot challenge those sides at the top table.

This deal is about more than money. It's about an "inferior" club from and "inferior" league taking one of Barcelona's prized assets and they can do nothing about it.

The top table of football has truly shifted and it's about time.

Amen.

Yes FIFA will rule on the eventual validity of the transfer but couldn't UEFA conceivably see a direct payment from Qatar to Neymar as a related party transaction in FFP terms which in turn could lead to PSG breaching FFP?
