Alexis Sanchez

Typical Wenger. Player not for sale. Happy to let them go in the future. Oh...unless board want to cash in. Then it is their choice and we will sell for the right price.

I fully expect this to escalate now. Second bid shortly, still denial. Third and then the talk will switch to "if the bid is appropriate we will consider, it is a lot of money" and fourth we sign him. Arsene is in cuckoo land thinking the board are happy to let him go for free next year. They have cash but not that much to sacrifice 60m for seeing their best player walk off to a rival for free.

So half the job is on us to offer enough to tempt Kroenke/the board to make the decision to sell.

Sanchez needs to do his bit now though, kick up a fuss, hand in a transfer request and basically tell them if they keep him then his heart won't be in it etc...

Very much seems like a deal can be done this summer based on his latest comments, just a matter of how much we'll have to pay and if Alexis has to intercede

Doing a good job already what with all these injuries.

Yeah, and the 'I know but I can't tell comment'. He'll go a little further with it I'm sure. Transfer request? Not so sure.
I've said all along that he shouldn't put a transfer request in and Wenger's comments don't suggest he needs to. If the offer we make is good enough, they'll relay it to Sanchez and his agent. Arsenal only have to accept the offer, Sanchez is doing everything he needs to.

However, for people like Wenger who enjoy games of brinkmanship it's useful at this stage to draw back a little. He's softened his stance today, which so far has belied the lack of bargaining power they have. I'd up the bid slowly and wouldn't go a penny over the fee we paid for De Bruyne. If that isn't good enough, good for them, he stays there a while longer.

we still may fall short with them

Of course, it doesn't guarantee success but it would give us the best possible chance of winning both the league and Champions League this year in my opinion (if other key members of the squad stay fit for the majority of the season).

The limit for signings closes on August 31; If Alexis plays against Bournemouth will have to wait at the end of the season ...
But I think we will have good news soon.
