Jonny Evans

It sounds an easy question to answer from where me and you are sat.
No one outside the club knows what the financial constraints are on the management team, what the remaining transfer targets are, what the strategy is, nothing, zilch. Yet, we have had a meltdown on this forum of epic proportions. We have had posters questioning the the managers judgement, calls for Txixi's sacking, tearing up of seasoncards, threats of booing and not cheering Evans if he has the temerity to pull on a sky blue shirt. We've had almost 350 pages of "crap, rag, crap, rag". Now we all know that Evans isn't in the top tier of footballers, we know he isn't the long term answer to our defensive problems, we know that ordinarily we could buy the best players out there. The question is why have the club decided to go for Evans of all people, knowing full well that he's a rag and also that we should be aiming for a much better quality of player. Of course we can't answer the question but I think it behoves us to show bit more faith and patience, not to mention gratitude to owners that have lifted us from being the laughing stock of English football and every bodies favourite second team to being on the cusp of joining the elite of European football. If Mansour were ever to read this thread he would wonder at the kind of people we were. It is, of course, a football forum and people are entitled to their opinions but the shrill outrage that has been expressed on here after the transfer window we have had, with more additions to hopefully follow, has led me to seriously question the maturity of some of the posters on this thread.

What a pile of shite.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion
Unless they differ from mine.

Wondering if our transfer team thinks they are working for the local council.
Seems they have a certain amount of money in their budget and are determined to spend it.

Sounds like a case to get rid of Pep. Is that where we're heading?

So if we disagree on Pep signing a player then that means we want to get rid of him

Pep might be the Messiah and his track record of winning trophies is exceptional but it doesn't mean we all have to be happy clappers about every potential signing.

Personally I want Pep to stay long term but not everything he does will be correct and as a long time match going blue I deem entitled to voice my opinion as are other fans who disagree with me.

We all want the best for City and have differing opinions regarding signings and that's what makes blue moon a great place

Personally the biggest problem for most is the fee honestly with this window and many to come prices are not going to change for many average/good players below the 20-30 million mark for the foreseeable future id suggest getting used to it.....

Excellent, well thought out post.

However, to be fair to those who are most vocally upset, I can empathise with the reasons to be bothered by this if you are a life long City fan. I didn't grow up in the Manchester area having to deal with Utd fans mocking me as a City fan since being a child, or at least for my formulative years as a fan. That does not automatically mean you will feel this way, but this is a player who went through their youth system and isn't coming to us having left on bad terms with the red side of town (i.e. Tevez).

This relationship is VERY personal for a lot of our fans who have endured a lot of horrible treatment from Utd and their entire propaganda machine in England, and interact regularly with their fans at work and in life, so it's understandable to be bothered from that point of view. Evans also did not perform so well his last season or so for them, was sold on the cheap, and this is understandably what our fans are going to remember well, including the 1-6. The potential fee also can feel like rubbing salt in these historic wounds, and if it is true Utd will get a cut of the fee of course that naturally would infuriate fans who regularly use the word "SCUM," "rags" or "Munchens" to describe anyone associated with the club and their fan base.

I mean I read on redcafe someone call him "Agent Jonny" and suggest he takes out Aguero in training for the season. That's part of what fans are dealing with here.

Not all of us feel this way, but not all of us have the same experiences. I don't claim to know yours, but I do get where the anger is coming from. It will certainly be quite interesting to see what happens if we do wind up signing him. I will of course be hoping he helps us.

Tottenham is about ti sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax. That guy will be worth 100m pounds in 2-3 seasons and we will be after him probably that time.

Same when we had a choice between Aiderweireld or Demichelis.

Now its Davinson Sanchez or Evans. We go for Evans for 30m,struggle to sell him in less than two years, while we watch Davinson Sanchez become the next Van Dijk...
Funny thing is D. Sanchez wont cost much more to Spurs than Evans for us and also salary wise its a better deal as no way Spurs can offer to Sanchez what we will offer to Evans.

Ffs mate he isn't going to be good enough for us in all honesty....how many West Bromwich games do you watch each season ?

I have seen him in bits on motd and seen him when we batter them and he hadn't impressed me.

Don't want him don't need him and hope to fuck we don't sign him

You don't know that your guessing! Here's a thought why not think positive about Evens if we sign him and he is going be fine under Pep or are you just wriggled with Negativity or hate the scum more than you love Manchester City.

No, Pep is not beyond criticism. No one is. I agree with your post. I was replying to a post that suggested the Evans signing was one in a long line of Pep errors, which I don't accept.

How about we wait until we sign him before we start licking his balls?
If he signs for us I will be hoping that he is nowhere near the useless bag as fucking shit that he was when the scum let him go in favor of keeping phil jones.
I'm sure we will all get behind him if he signs. Until then, lets call a spade a spade.
