Nasri was class, so was Anelka and Kolo did his bit. Clichy was one of our best in the title winning season and Sagna was a decent back up. Adebayor was worth it just for this.

IMO of course.
I get your opinion, but for me they have all been bang average signings who have failed to deliver with the blue shirt on. Adebayor, anelka and nasri spent too much time sulking, Clichy couldn't defend, sagna's best games were when he played centre half. Probably kolo was the only one who personally looked worthy of the money we paid for him.

That is just rubbish.

Without Anelka (not a direct signing from Arsenal btw) there is a good chance we could have been relegated in 2003/04, 16 goals for a team that finishes 16th is a great return. A couple of big assists in there as well if I remember correctly.

Clichy played his part in 2 Premier League trophies and 2 League Cup trophies, well worth the £6m-£7m we paid for him and bar the last season or 2 he was a solid player for us.

Nasri was superb in both title winning seasons and again played a big part in the league cup victories, easily worth the £24m we paid. Alright he sulked a little bit but what player doesn't. He was superb in the 11-12 run in and the 13-14 run in and scored a screamer in the 2014 League Cup final amongst other great goals.

Sagna was our best defender in the 15-16 season which seen us make the Champions League semis, free transfer, absolutely worth it.

Kolo was a good player for us but in an era when we were rising quick, played a big part in helping us finish in the top 4 but was starting to dwindle into a squad player by the time we were winning trophies.

Adebayor is the only signing you can argue wasn't worth it but that Gif of the Arsenal fans going mental does make it worthwhile.

Anyway to keep this post on topic, Sanchez is class and walks into our starting XI, anyone who doesn't want him is clearly mental.

Sanchez to the scousers seems quite plausible to me if they let coutinho go for 130/140m they could slap a 70/80m bid in to tempt arsenal to sell and would still have a bag of cash leftover for VVD. Those 2 for coutinho would be outstanding business.

Why would Sanchez leave one mediocre side to join another mediocre one.

But he doesn't want to go there
I was only saying it's plausible....if Liverpool bid more than us to replace coutinho arsenal accept their offer then Sanchez may not have the option to join us available to him other than sticking out his contract and joining next summer. Not saying it'll happen in fact I've got money on him coming to us but it's a slight worry if the scousers start sniffing around him as it may also force us to pay more than we planned to.

I dont see it as a worry at all - 2 reasons

1. He has stated his preference is us
2. If he goes to Redscouse, he is untrustworthy and we are better without

I think it'd be a better move for Sanchez. CL, cult status forever, decent squad, guaranteed start, history, favorable refereeing, more likely to be acknowledged in the media, more likely to hit top scorer or POTY, etc, etc, etc.

But for Arsenal it'd be insane. It'd only further cement the top 4 spots. If they have any hope themselves of top 4 finish then they need to hope that Liverpool don't significantly strengthen.
