La Liga want Man City investigation

I agree with fcbarca, they aren't keen on us having a "B" team in La Liga, especially when we've cleverly circumnavigated ownership issues with the Pere/CFG split.

Fuck 'em

I think it's fear that they'll lose Messi to us.

Haven't heard/seen any objections to our deal with Girona, if they had an issue surely something would've been said while the deal was in the offing.

Most significant sign yet that Messi to City might actually happen. It's clear there have been meaningful talks between City and Lionel's representatives and every day that contract remains unsigned the ticking gets louder. Plus (don't where I read it) but Barca apparently had a pressa in the last few days to assuage fans anxiety about Messi. One exec had to be corrected when describing Neymar leaving but referring to Messi, with the words "You mean Neymar". Freudian slip if ever there was.....

Barca/La Liga are officially bricking it.

JJ is indeed AFC but he might not be far off on the Girona thing. Would've been funnier if it'd been Espanyol though!

The way things are going Girona could supplant Espanyol as the second team in Barcelona in the next 20 to 30 years.

I have a great idea. Girona sign Messi for free next year... play him - then on the the last minute of deadline day, then loan him over. :P

Except that Girona is over 100 km from Bracelona.

" La Liga have given their seal of approval for the City Football Group (the family of businesses for which Manchester City is the flagship and brand leader), to purchase a 88%share of one of La Liga’s own teams, Girona, with Pere Guardiola (Pep’s brother)."

Kind of flies in the face of the argument that Tebas is calling for investigation because of our involvement with Girona.

Exactly like that article says, La Liga weren't bothered about money in football until clubs from other leagues started to pose a threat to their teams. They celebrated Real and opened the door to them being state-aided. But having lost Neymar, Messi to City being a possibility financially, at least, has them worried.

Very good article, looks like a lot of sour grapes from the Spanish league. UEFA have come out and said that they will be not looking into Man City for breaking FFP rules, but will be looking into PSG for breaking those rules.

It was only Jackson who seemed to make that link, almost as though he needed a spacefiller to make up word count, and through in his obligatory spin.

If La Liga had had a problem, it wouldn't have happened!

A couple of posters earlier in the thread, maybe a page or two back reckoned Tebas was calling for the investigation due to our involvement with Girona.
