Very good player who would have improved us but at £75 million I would have been against the transfer.

There will be other players out there that can do the job we need just as well for nowhere near that sort of money.

Couldn’t agree more. Can’t wait for all the media criticism of Liverpool single handedly ruining football and inflating global transfer fees.

Sky sports news have just ran a poll to see if VVD is worth 75m. Now keep in mind that they ran a similar poll when we signed walker, for 50m, and the end result was a resounding no.
I wonder what the outcome of this one will be!
As a sidenote Gary Neville was surprised and stunned at the 75m price, he even said wow that's a lot of money, I presume that he forgot boycie cost the same and more.

Did we really get gazzumped by Scousers?
Or did the club genuinely think he wasn't worth £75m?

I bet if Liverpool hadnt jumped in so quick we'd have paid that after Komps' latest injury.

Stones must be back soon though, surely!?

Didn't Phil Thompson and Mickey Quinn call raheem for jumping ship and trying to better himself? And now both are shouting from the rooftops about this deal and what a great move for the lad it is? One thing that grates on me is hypocrites and people being fickle and these two haven't thought before they have opened their giddy mouths.
Pathetic that they've been allowed to air their two faced opinions in the mainstream.

That's a scouser for you.

They are incapable of any logical thought process. They are dyed-in-the-wool Dippers. We know exactly where they are coming from.

Time will tell whether VD was a good signing or not. Sterling has already proved just how good a signing he was, worth twice what we paid now!

Personally I think Stones is a better centre back than VD. He's very good though, so disappointing we didnt get him, but having said that Ota has been fantastic this season.

I haven't seen that much of VVD if I'm honest, Monday night football did a bit on him a few weeks ago and exposed his positioning and distribution, both carragher and Neville came down on him a bit heavy but as sure as eggs are eggs carragher last night was comparing him to vinnie of a few years ago.
Time will tell but if you got a bad defence and only replace one position with somebody better then your are only weakening the other positions surely?

Who said we went in for him anyway, not good enough for us.

It's easy to say Southampton to Liverpool is a step up.
It's hard to accept Liverpool to Manchester City the same. In fact, they view it as the opposite and that's what drives their opinions.

Anyone thinks Liverpool will be a challenger next season? With Van Dijk and Kieta in, and say they add Lemar in place of Coutinho, I think that's a very strong team capable of a title challenge.

Yeah and I said in another thread that Coutinho be gone in summer but got the feeling that Liverpool will keep him for one more season and have real go at the league next season well they will have a team to win the league it be how good Klopp is as manager
