Exactly. It's the same case over at Arsenal.Coaches are the most important element of a good team defence. Klopp can buy 6 £75m defenders and still not organise them into a sound unit.

Couldn’t agree more. Can’t wait for all the media criticism of Liverpool single handedly ruining football and inflating global transfer fees.Very good player who would have improved us but at £75 million I would have been against the transfer.
There will be other players out there that can do the job we need just as well for nowhere near that sort of money.
We are not even in the top 6 transfer spends by EPL teams :
Pogba
Lukaku
Van Dijk
Morata
Naby Kieta (65m?)
Di Maria
Surely, we shouldn't be the only ones accountable for inflating the prices.
Did we really get gazzumped by Scousers?
Or did the club genuinely think he wasn't worth £75m?
I bet if Liverpool hadnt jumped in so quick we'd have paid that after Komps' latest injury.
Stones must be back soon though, surely!?
Time to close the thread I think if this is the level of debate. When do you go back to school?Hopefully that'll change in summer when we sign Kane!
@tolmie's hairdoo said city laughed in the summer when quoted £50m mate!

That's a scouser for you.Didn't Phil Thompson and Mickey Quinn call raheem for jumping ship and trying to better himself? And now both are shouting from the rooftops about this deal and what a great move for the lad it is? One thing that grates on me is hypocrites and people being fickle and these two haven't thought before they have opened their giddy mouths.
Pathetic that they've been allowed to air their two faced opinions in the mainstream.

I haven't seen that much of VVD if I'm honest, Monday night football did a bit on him a few weeks ago and exposed his positioning and distribution, both carragher and Neville came down on him a bit heavy but as sure as eggs are eggs carragher last night was comparing him to vinnie of a few years ago.Time will tell whether VD was a good signing or not. Sterling has already proved just how good a signing he was, worth twice what we paid now!
Personally I think Stones is a better centre back than VD. He's very good though, so disappointing we didnt get him, but having said that Ota has been fantastic this season.
Who said we went in for him anyway, not good enough for us.Did we really get gazzumped by Scousers?

Anyone thinks Liverpool will be a challenger next season? With Van Dijk and Kieta in, and say they add Lemar in place of Coutinho, I think that's a very strong team capable of a title challenge.
