How many points to win the league?

chelsea are back in the title race and that is a big danger they know the race and can knock of a big run of wins just like city so we must keep on the ball united are or was never in the title race for me and it was never about city dropping points it was united not picking up enough points to stay with us

87 points is the target and it could be mid march if we keep on winning or it could be early march if chelsea drop points and if chelsea lose another 2 games the points target will be 81 or 82 yes that low and if we run away with it and then turn off i would be mad with my £10 100 goals scored in the premier league bet up in smoke hahahah

Good post mate but any chance of a couple of full stops now and then, ran out of breath reading it.

Have to remain head strong now. I have a funny feeling about Chelsea. The attention is on us as they go about their job quietly. They’ll be ready to pounce on any slips.

As you say mate, Ancoats post is good one (as they normally are). He’s mentioned in the past that his dyslexia can make including grammar a bit of a nightmare.

Didn't know, apologies if offensive, but it was genuinely lighhearted.

I still think Liverpool will be there at the end, we got to keep up our winning streak, it's looking like Liverpool might be going into one themselves, depends on the fad four staying fit and how VVD fits in.

Utd are now spent. No fear of them, they'll be lucky to finish top four.

Chelsea not consistent enough this year but looking good.

Seriously mate Liverpool will be nowhere near and Chelsea are far more consistent than them.

Win our remaining home matches and pick a couple of away points and its done as the others will drop plenty of points.

I am without any doubt the most miserable pessimistic old bastard I know when it comes to football. I wasnt one of the 50k at York away but have seen some of the more spectacular fuck ups and disasters either side of the historic catastrophe of visiting York.

Chelsea are not back in the title race, it would take the most monumental balls up by us to let them in, that balls up would have to be made by the best set of players our fans have ever seen at the club. That set of players would have to play quite alot worse than some of our shite teams could even manage.

Blue Smarties thanks for understanding

would love to use grammer in my post and even just the right full stop in the right place hahahhahaha
am looking into using www.grammarly.com and maybe just getting the basic will help

Don’t worry about the grammar, I like to think your posts as unique! Every time I go into the ashes thread and I see a post without full stops, I don’t have to waste my time and looking at the posters name.

Chelsea are long gone in the title race, as is everyone else. It’s done and dusted.

most of the starting players this season other than ederson are the same players from last season and they had a bad season last year ok pep was bedding in and we get rid of the deadwood but injury to new players and old and looking at the strikers in aguero and jesus have they really but up a good partnership and been on fire ???

am old school and you don't get given medals for playing very well and breaking records its all about finishing off what you started and all the good works need to be topped off with silverware and medals and they say winning your first bit of silverware is the hardest and losing the first one is key to the whole season so like i said nothing is won by a long chalk and its only just halfway into the season and this transfer window could give the new players going to the top 3 or 4 clubs a boost and go on a long unbeaten run just like man city

Just for a laugh we could sack Pep until the end of the season and replace him with Steve Maclaren and we would still win it by at least 6 points.

I feel the same way tbh, all it takes is two or three stupid slip ups and chelsea going on a winning run and it gets nervy again.

Having said that beat Palace tomorrow and our fixture list (Liverpool aside) looks pretty nice with home games against Watford, Newcastle, West Brom and Leicester with also Burnley away. Get 19 points from them and we would probably be 20 plus points clear with 10 games to go. Huge game tomorrow imo

38 will be enough if our GD is superior. Of course this is assuming Chelsea win every game

Oi; second most miserable pessimistic old bastard, if you don't mind!

Realistically I think it's virtually over now, even if City suffer a drop in form it requires one of the challengers to have almost perfect results to close the gap which none show overwhelming signs of doing at the moment. I saw an article the other day that said some statisicians had done 4000 simulations of the rest of the season and City won the league in all but 3 of them.

All that said no point being cocky and celebrating before it's a certainty, I don't think Pep or the players will get complacent and therefore I'd love it if we can break the points and goals record in a single season.

I did 10,000,000 permutations in 2012 and none of them had Wigan winning and Everton snatching a 4-4 draw. Does my fucking head in all talk of beating this and that record. We have won nothing yet. Not. A. Carrot. Makes me cringe reading newspaper/web/bluemoon articles about how we're the best team ever / how we'll dominate for years etc, etc. Time to show a modicum of reserve. If and when we win the league, let's roll out the platitudes. 8 points in 6 games. Could never be done? Overcome an 8 point deficit from a max of 18 points? Well, we did. so 14 points in 17 games (51 points) is something we shouldn't get too cocky about.
