Wasn't it the Hazard deal that failed because we weren't prepared to pay the agents fee and Chelsea were?
(I wonder if the decision makers regret that?)
I know we can't give into everything, but I do get the impression we have shot ourselves in the foot, playing hardball too early, for an exceptional talent. I wonder if a personal Pep phone call and a bit more flexibility with the financial package, can reassure Sanchez he is really wanted here?
I do not think the agent fee was an issue. Arsenal were not agreeing our transfer fee. His agent has now been out to other clubs (again) to see what their package is as they might meet arsenals desired price.
Our position is all agreed subject to arsenal. We are playing the waiting game and Sanchez' agent is playing the plan B game in case Arsenal do not budge and his client decides he cannot stay past Jan.
He cannot force a move to City now but if he wants out so bad he might just go for big money elsewhere rather than wait until the summer for us.
Personally I cannot see him signing for united, I think we will get him but it will be on the final day when Arsenal know they have to agree a price.
