So, Laporte and Mahrez now, Fred and worldclass striker/false 9 next summer, and we're set for a couple of years at least.
 
Really hope we can get this done. I think he’d be a brilliant addition. I keep reading from journalists and rival fans that City don’t need Mahrez, but going into the business end of the season with only three fit forwards (for three positions) would potentially jeopardise what could be a record breaking campaign. Makes much more sense to do summer business now.
 
The more I think about this signing, the more it makes sense. We are aiming to go deep into every competition that we enter, which means that our squad needs quality depth. It seems to me that Pep wants a squad where each outfield player (with the exception of most starters and specialists like Aguero) can play two positions well, and where each position has three backups to cope with injuries, form and rotation. Here's what that may look like using our current formation with the addition of Mahrez and Fred:

Yeah I think it’s a lot of money, especially for a player who hasn’t really been at his best for the past two seasons since they won the league. Also think it further restricts the chances Diaz and Foden will get which is disappointing.

That looks strong, but who won't be in the CL squad?
I'm not even sure it fits the PL profile either.

When he's played the position behind the striker for Leicester it's very difficult to get the ball off him. I think he'd mostly be a winger for us but he could definitely fill in for Silva and De Bruyne if needed.
