Chelsea and Roma were upping bids £1m at a time. For some reason they seem to think we're Burnley and don't have billionaire owners or a few hundred million than others around us thanks to winning the league and £80m from the champions league last year alone. Roma bid £17m for Mahrez in the summer the jokers.

Our owners are serious about building the club and have actually been up at your place looking at all your training facilities etc as they are buying land here and wanting to do the same. Want to either extend the ground or build a new one. They aren't looking to make a quick buck off a player sale.
 
Apart from Simon Stone who else has said we have put in a bid? Has it come from Leicester? It certainly hasn't' come from City. Is Mr Stone stiring it?

That's an odd increase of £4m to swing it to be so "logical"
 
The tipping point likely is we have to offer the highest we have ever paid for a player to get him. We should. He is worth that. And we are not far off so we surely will.

And Mahrez is 26 and one of the best attacking players in the premier league, proven at his level. Attacking players go for more, we don't set the market. You guys do spending £50m on defenders.

He can have the devil himself as his agent, but he has two and a half years left on his contract. If your board want the player, then they can have him for what we'd consider a reasonable bid in the current market.

I'm sure there is a deal to be done if your side really want him. The owners are friends with the players and there is a lot of mutual respect, they don't like to stand in peoples way, but they also won't have the piss taken. £55m for Mahrez will be see as an insult.

Chuck in another £10m cash, lots of add ons and wipe out the Iheanacho buy back and a chunk of the remaining fee. I'm sure there is a middle ground.

I'd rather keep him as he's priceless to us, no fee will ever get us as good a replacement. He's a sensational player, come the summer he'll be worth £100m+ and we all know it down here.

I agree with a lot of what you say but you're living in cuckoo land if you think you're going to get £100 million for Mahrez in the summer.

24 months left on his contract, openly wants out of the club and has done for 2 years and no current bidding war for him.

Also, to state that £55 million is an insult is also laughable. Ignore the fees that Coutinho, Dembele and Neymar have moved for, they are not the norm. The likes of Aubamryang, Lacazette and Bernardo prices are more comparable and Mahrez is valued in that bracket.

It sends a message as well. You can see it in the bitterness and even defeatism of the opposition fans' comments today. 12 points clear and we're dropping another huge amount on fantastic players. United have taken one step forward, so we take two.
 
If we're looking for a lock picker to take the strain off Silva, there's a lad at Arsenal whose contract is nearly up

Who among us, even two years ago, would have predicted we could break our transfer record twice in a January transfer window, first to buy Aymeric Laporte, and then a second time to buy... Riyad Mahrez.

Riyad Mahrez as our most expensive ever purchase.

By putting his cards on the table with a transfer request. he is i am sure giving his all to join us I dont for one minute think he has any passion or had a longing desire to join us. but he is neither blind or stupid. We are a team which at present are making most of football sit up and notice trying to accomplish the quadruple with a manager considered one of if not the best. IF by tommorow night he is still at leicester its most likely due to his club pricing him out of the deal But fair play to him because it sounds like unlike Sanchez. he put more fight in to becoming a city player
