Surprised this needs mentioning, but obviously:

Gundogan --> to replace D Silva
Fred --> to replace Dinho

A gundogan and fred midfield pivot would definitely be viable in the future as well where they rotate going forward, if pep wanted to do that. Also we can't have just 3 top midfield players we need more due to rotation and injuries.

The future of our midfield 3 is clearly Kevin, B Silva, Gundogan, Fred with Foden getting in eventually.

I don't think Gundogan has a cat in hell's chance of replacing Silva mate. Personally I'll be surprised if Fred replaces Fernandinho. I recon it's more likely Fred replaces Gundogan long term.

Unless Gundogan suddenly finds an exra two yards of fitness. Then he is a viable first team player. But not instead of Silva.

With a seventy plus game season, there is time for all of them. The elder statesmen of the team are now in their early thirties too. Their game time will need to be managed or they will be moved on, making room for players like Gundogan, backed up by players like Zinchenko and Foden hopefully, as well as new arrivals.

Is this still going from before the game ended,he is not dinho,no-one is dinho,he covered and we won 3-0,job done, hopefully dinho is back soon

So Pep will pick Gundogan over Fernandinho.
Lol. You sure know how to play silly. This was your question:

"which of City's midfielders do you think will lose the most appearences next season, to accomodate him (Fred)?"

The answer is Dihno. It seems you don't like the answer, and want to ask a different question.

So go ahead, try to formulate a better question... I'lI wait.

Gundogan is a goal threat, he can replace Silva in the future, and if not then he can play in a midfield double pivot.

You can see the double pivot coming back in the last few games, especially since the Liverpool game where Dinho was isolated as the sole pivot, Gundogan dropped to give us another option.

You shouldn't see it as replacing like-for-like but coming in to replace and altering the midfield slightly to accommodate.

Quite clearly, a Fred-Gundogan pivot would be quite obviously the way to go as neither should really play as the single pivot, but instead rotate going forward, there is a strong chance this will happen, Kevin can also quite clearly play this role as well as he looks more and more like prime Yaya (a goal scoring and assist creating central midfielder with bombing runs).

This also means someone like B Silva can play as the CAM and we bring in a winger (say Bailey don't care someone good) who injects more pace out wide.

Gundogan represents a new breed of versatility. You've summed it up well.

No it isn't.

You are being silly again. Gundogan loses out to KDB Silva & Fernandinho NOW.

If Fern rotates a bit with Fred, he will still get Gundogan's games as well. But instead of Gundogan getting Fern's job when he is injured or rested, as he did on Thursday, Fred will get it. So he will go from 4th choice, to 5th choice.

Unless of course he shapes up and finds more sharpness, as I said originally. He was originally signed to play, not to watch.

Or we could sign someone better.

But he'll never lace Silva's boots.

Again, are you asking a new question? Coz the answer to your old question stays the same.

"Which Midfielder will 'lose' the most appearances". English isn't my first language, but you seem to be the one struggling with it here.

I have highlighted the key word in your question: To answer that question, you have to know what each midfielder currently gets.
Hypothetically
This season
Debryune: 30
Dihno: 25
Silva: 25
Gundogan: 10

IF Fred comes, next season the expected split ( assuming he is as good as Pep thinks he is)
Debryune 30
Silva: 20
Dihno: 15
Gundogan: 15
Fred: 20

So no matter how you look at it, Dihno in all likelihood will be the one 'losing' gametime to accommodate Fred.

You are making your own simple question more rocket science than it needs to be. :?

I was going to add that you will attempt to waste my time with some utter shite which I won't be reading.

Are you saying if Silva or Kev we're out Fernandihno plays over Ilkay? Coz that's just silly!

Just giving you a heads up because you don't like it when people reason with you, Gundogan will continue to get more and more game time, and will get more next year as well. Dinho and D Silva are the ones who will get less game time next year because of their age. It doesn't matter if you think he isn't the player for us, because Pep reached out to buy him.

Your trick in trade. When you are wrong - don't read :)
Yep I think Neville Kneville could have an argument in an empty room. He seems to forget that we are witnessing some of the best football ever seen in this country, there should be no complaints at all. He also forgets that in the not too distant past ie last season our failures were mainly down to two things 1. players didn't quite get Pep's demands and 2. half of the team were over 32 - Ferna, Komps & Merlin are fast approaching this junction - I fully expect them to be integral for a while longer but, we must learn lessons. I am honoured to have seen the likes of David Silva but everyone grows old, I know Pep and a few of us understand this fact. I also repeat Gundogan is considered by Pep to be a great player and that is good enough for me.

Think Gundo is a good player. He’s not a KDB but who is? If we do sign Fred still plenty of games for all the midfielders.
With David and Fern 32 and Pep’s high intensity football and a World Cup to come not sure we can rely on them full time next season. Will need to rotate

And Nolito.

Yep you'll never catch me praising the kind of football we are playing, nor Pep, I seem to forget it.

I also seem to forget that our failures of the past are down to two things.

Which lessons must I learn by the way ?

Not to give an opinion on a player who hasn't been playing very well, whilst we are winning games & to wait until we lose a few, then throw in a kneejerk reaction on several perhaps ?
