City Fans Leaving Early/Empty seats

. Or maybe the thought of paying £60 for a ticket, regardless of Pep, the way the team is playing, and the title is all but won, is too much for our fans.

.

There was demand for this match. Had to put up our two tickets Saturday morning as we couldn't go due to family reasons. They sold inside an hour.

People who want to buy tickets but can’t because it says it’s sold out and those who have sympathy for them are the ones who give a fuck

Fair comment.

I was referring to those city fans who feel ashamed at empty seats because rags and nedia numpties give us stick about it. For me that’s no big issue.

My nephew came home from school today and has been given a ticket for the Basel game from a group he does with school. The guy that has organised it gets about 20 free tickets a game apparently so it will be interesting to see where they sit and if it ties in with the rows of empty seats that I see every week in the family stand from SSL1.

We don't feel ashamed about that.

I'm not arsed about the Emptyhad jibes.

I feel ashamed about seats remaining empty, while 1000's of City fans are unable to go to the matches because the tickets are sold out according to City.

If Chelsea was sold out, there wouldn't be visible empty seats in the Family Stand and in other parts of the stadium.

Yes, we don't know how the club distribute home match tickets, but surely it can't be that the club are holding back tickets that aren't being used or taken up.

This has been going on for too long for it to be season ticket holders staying away.

And to think, Soreano and the Directors see these empty seats home match after home match, and let it continue without addressing the problem.

Is it any wonder the NS expansion has been put on the back burner.

I would scrub the family stand sell tickets bottom up. Leave any spares at the top and at the back. I would lock the exits to stop people leaving before the end. Bring back standing and drinking in the stadium. Anyone who does not sing should get a life ban - lol

I’m not sure that there are thousands of blues unable to get tickets every week. For big matches demand will always exceed supply, twas ever thus, but for the average home game I think the vast majority of those who want to go can go.

I always look at it this way.

For the lesser games we always seem to sell out the 3rd tier of the away end. So there are 1000+ City fans who wouldn't get a ticket for the bigger games, as the away end is always sold out. So why aren't those 1000+ fans who normally sit and fill the away end 3rd tier for the lesser games, not getting the opportunity to buy the visible empty seats for the bigger games in other parts of the stadium? Availability? Price? Etc?

You make a good point, I didn’t think of that

Would it be possible in theory to let the away fans have that part of the ground.. and swap it with the away section now and have the entire north stand all city fans.
Think I've seen it mentioned before.
So you've missed the police saying they want the away fans at the east end of the south stand?
Not one of their better known hits but they've been repeating it for fifteen years.

The Swansea game that I posted a screenshot of ticket availability a couple of pages back would be considered a lesser game, and it is effectively a sell-out with a couple of weeks to go. Guaranteed there will be the same empty seat issues then though.

Whats the logic behind dishing out tickets to schools from Scotland? (Dont get me wrong fully behind giving them out to local schools, but against Chelsea one of the CAT A games seems a bit strange?)

They think it will encourage these kids into becoming City fans. Thus building the fan base around the UK, which would eventually lead to more shirts being sold and higher ticket demand (meaning costs go up). If it encourages more people to take up memberships it means the club have a better bargaining position when it comes to sponsors as well (we have 100,000 members UK-wide sounds better than 50,000 members within Manchester).

In short, it's to grow the club into a bigger money-making vessel in the medium/long term.

Fair enough, doesnt seem to be working though considering they cant be arsed turning up when its free.

Something needs sorting out though as it seems they dont often turn up might as well sell / give them to local fans who really want reallyi am all for dishing out comps to spread the word and encourage people to come but if they keep on not coming somet is wrong same as all the comps that get dished out .give them to people who want to come .not to someone who may or may not fancy it

There are many ways to engage far away fans, winning being the best.

Giving tickets to people who live hundreds of miles away isn't the best of options and just annoys existing fans that want to go to the game but are told it's a sell out and then have to watch the empty seats in the family stand on TV.

This is mental City. We need to stop this and see if this is really the problem or if no shows are for another reason because we won't ever see better football than this.

What I'm saying is based on assumption, so don't take it for gospel. I do know how the club works though and I'm pretty confident the issue will arise because they're just giving schools/clubs/communities a block of tickets. They will approach a junior football team and ask if they want to attend the game. The club will say yes, then City will give them 25 tickets. The club might only have 20 kids involved so there's bound to be a couple of tickets spare. I think the people who 'flog' these tickets will have targets/quotas for the number of tickets they have to distribute and the number of different people in different areas of the world that they can engage with.

If you have a quota of 500 each game, you're not going to be bothered that Inverness Athletic under 13s only want 21, you'll give them 25 just in case one or two of the parents want to go. They might scramble and find one or two other people but why would the break their balls about getting rid of free tickets to a City match, especially when they have no affiliation to the club.

I think they need to change this by clubs giving City a set amount and paying a charge for each ticket. Let's say they have to pay £3 per ticket (so no-one is going to be priced out), that would stop a club 'taking' 50 tickets when they only 'need' 35. If it were down to me, I'd make it so groups have to approach City and bid for the tickets. I'd charge more for each ticket, perhaps £10. When the kids arrive though, they should be invited to go and see the players coming off the team bus (near the front), they should all get a complimentary City scarf/hat/gloves/something. That would make the day way more special and a keepsake makes them more likely to stay a blue for the rest of their lives (which I'm sure everyone agrees is a good thing) - but you aren't going to pay £10 and travel the length of the country to go and watch a game you could care less about and leave before the final whistle, are you?

Can't see any potential problems arising out of that...
