Two words missing from the defeat at Liverpool.

Kompany.....Silva

Enough said.

2-1 to us!

Not to mention Stones starting after injury layoff and Delph going off injured. As well as short rest before the match
The team they will face this time around is a well oiled machine.
We may well bury them in the first leg of the tie.

Same team as yesterday with two changes:

Bernard for Sterling and Delph for Laporte

We can't afford Sterling suffering with stage fright again like he did in the League, it was like playing with ten men at times so take the pressure away from him and put Bernard in.

Like others have stated having Silva and Kompany available this time around will hopefully make a huge difference on our League display, away goals are vital.

I could see us going 3 at the back for this game. Ederson Walker Kompany Otamendi Laporte Danilo Fernandinho Silva De Bruyne Jesus Aguero

The formation picked itself apart from Sterling and who will be the LB.

I would go with Bernardo and Delph if fit, if not then Danilo.

Agreed Sterling is having a great season but seems to suffer mentally at Anfield. No doubt Laporte will be an excellent signing but Delph imo will be the better option as he is tried and trusted in this position.

Must score at Anfield. I think that is crucial to this whole tie. Going back to our place without the away goal could really hurt us. Score draw 1st leg, good win 2nd leg would be my hope.
Using your expected results then a goalless draw at Anfield would see us through just fine.

Decent and balanced article from Chris Bascombe in the Telegraph today

There’s also an interesting one in The Observer which retells the story of how when Forest went for the European Cup game (first year that they won it) Cloughie invited Shankly to travel with Forest to the ground (never told the players why) and then insisted they walk in front of the Kop before the warm up.
All kinds of things were being thrown at them but when one fan threw a tennis ball into the pitch fat John Robertson juggled it up with his feet and smashed it into the top corner.
Cue spontaneous applause !

Reminds me of big Mal before a derby kick off at the swamp, he walked right up to the stretford end and amongst the things thrown at him was an orange which he picked up and threw it straight back.
We seldom lost against the rags with big Mal.

As good as Razza was v the toffees, he MUST NOT start in this game!!!!
They’re going to be shitting themselves after seeing us destroy Everton yesterday. We have nothing to fear. I really hope Pep prepares the team to humiliate the dippers.

I love the fact every single Scouser would have been watching yesterday and noticed every single thing Silva did.

They know he wasn't there last time and can really hurt them. Step forward David.

Don’t think I could disagree more on that. Jesus links play much better and works harder.

I’d have Aguero for the derby and home CL tie though.

Same. Jesus' work off the ball and link up play is criminally underrated. I'd put money on him scoring if he plays.

Sterling has to play. Great players don't freeze and Sterling has something to prove.
Sterling’s presence in our team is more of a boost for the Liverpool supporters who boo him incessantly than it is for us. I get what you’re saying, but it’s just not worth it. I’ll be disappointed if he’s selected to start as it’ll be like playing down a man in the toughest game of the season.

Nothing against him, just felt the same way with Barry at Villa, Lescott at Everton, Nasri at Arsenal, etc.

Game yesterday could’ve even been a little different if Stones started.

Don’t think it matters how mentally tough you are, having 50k+ people shout nonstop abuse at you for two hours just takes its toll.

I absolutely understand that but, imho, a great player should overcome that and use it as motivation. Imagine what a boost it would be for him and us if and when he scores at Anfield.

My thoughts exactly, why give their fans something to cheer about when you can take the issue away and concentrate on football, let him loose at the Etihad by all means but not at Anfield
