Booing the Champions League Anthem

So what will it take to stop booing ?

And one interesting question ...And if and when we ever lift the champs league trophy what will you do when the anthem is played and the streamers go off ?

You have to wonder why we've been given the same ref for 3 of our last 12 CL games.

I mean, how many times would we see Martin Atkinson referee our games in a PL season?

I refuse to believe that after 16 games a week in the group stages that there are a significantly limited number of competent officials suitable for the latter stages.

Bent officials, zero seconds added on at ht penalties not awarded, offside goals given/not given three times which worked against us. It's as though they don't want us in their tournament. And that's just from this tie, not to mention our manager being sent off, our bus being destroyed with no repurcussions etc. It's a long list just from the one tie. I say we boo this pile of shite until the cows come home. Wouldn't it be great to win it whilst booing the fucking corrupt bunch of G14 protection racketeering twats' stupid anthem in all the rounds and the final. Let's win it despite them.

I hope we never do. Tonights refereeing display along with uefa inaction toward the dippers bus ambush has cemented it for me. Fuck 'em.
I was there for the first booing. It took until the following game to really catch on but it's a beautiful thing. Anyway, fuck 'em

But how does booing help the teams performance ? I'd love to know.

It's not there to help the team.

It's a contrived anthem to try and showcase the CL. Really? It has no impact on the game or on the players. So booing it doesn't affect the players. Neither does booing it or not. But by booing the CL anthem, City fans are sending UEFA a message, that we don't like the organization, their rules, their dreadful officials, or the way they have treated the club. Cast your mind back to when UEFA threatened to fine City because we booed the anthem. Lol!! UEFA eventually backed down. Which organization goes to those lengths to try and silence fans.

If you don't want to boo the anthem, don't. It's a free country. But don't tell me or other City fans to stop booing it, because we won't.

I'd stopped booing last season but I started again tonight after eufa's non-punishment of the coach incident. And after tonight's nut case of a biased Ref will continue to do so next year.

I’m fucking it off completely next season. I just don’t enjoy the competition, the group stages, the tourists trying to find their seats, the booing, the no drinking. Just doesn’t do it for me anymore.

I blew it off a couple of years ago after the CSKA game where their player should have received a red card and the "official" turned around and gave the card to one of his teammates. I have to say I love City and if they started the Full Members Cup again I would be at the games, but I hate the Champions League with a passion and to be honest I really don't miss it
