Breaking records/stats thread

Updated for all records..

The following English records now belong to Manchester City:

- Only team to get 100 points in ANY season.
- Most all-time points in a season (@2 or 3 points for a win).
- Most all-time away points in a season (@2 or 3 points win).
- Most all-time wins in a season.
- Most all-time away wins in a season.
- Biggest all-time goal difference in a season.
- Largest all-time points margin to 2nd place team (@2 or 3 points a game)
- Most Premier League goals in a season.
- Most consecutive league wins in a season.
- Most consecutive wins ( all competitions).
- Most all-time top-flight 100 goal seasons.
- Most 100 goals seasons (all leagues).
- Most passes attempted in a game.
- Most passes completed in a game.
- Most possession in a game.
- Been behind in matches for only 153 minutes, the fewest ever.
- Have 3 players in the premier league top ten scorers, more than any other team
- Have 3 players in the premier league top ten assist makers, more than any other team

Not the greatest premier league side ever though because you can't judge it over just on one season. That honour belongs to Manchester United or Arsenal, specifically their 1998/99 or 2003/04 teams respectively, because you can judge it on just one season.

Going through the stats, best/worst, I came across this little nugget....

Fewest PL goals scored at home in a season

10 - Manchester City (2006/07)

Seems like only yesterday and so long ago.

My cousin bought a half season card that season to run for all home games in 2007 and missed the first home game of the year which we did score in...we didn't score again at home that season iirc. Good investment for him!

Does anyone know the record for goals scored in open play in a single season and how we faired against it this season?

I was thinking about this too, but don't know the answer. I am sure that we must have the record not just for most scored from.open play, but also, biggest percentage of goals scored from open play. When Chelsea were at their best, they scored a lot from penalties and corners. Liverpool might run us close on the percentage point, but I've no time to be the statto looking into it, I'm afraid.

Biggest points swing in a season? 15pts behind champs (chelsea) last season, 30pts in front of them this season, 45pts in a season is seriously impressive!!

Apologies if alteady posted but two other stats that stood out for me were; we were only losing for 153 minutes all season and we were top for 240 days which, whilst by no means a record, is only one day less than the rags have been top since Sergio scored that goal in 2012. Happy, happy days.

Just to add to that, we scored more goals in the 38 league games this season than Pearce's teams managed in the entire 96 competitive games he was in charge (103).
