Mahrez isn’t great just yet that’s for sure.. the season Leicester won the league every player in that team had a great season not just Mahrez. Was a freak season that year for all there players. For me he has a lot more to prove on the big stage before being considered great.
We've just had a Leicester fan on here saying many consider he may have surpassed his 15/16 season just this past season.

I'll take his word on his consistency to be fair.

He won POTY in a title winning campaign and was their best performer in their CL run.

Rhyming off a list of players that even a toddler can infer what makes them great and how that doesn't make Mahrez great. Not that hard, as you say. Elementary.
It literally doesn't.

And that's not the hyperbolic use of the word "literally", you actually haven't quantified your reasoning.

You don't particularly like this signing, fine, but at least offer up and expand on the reasons as to why not.

What has the only player to register double digits in goals and assists in the PL in two of the past three seasons, a former PL POTY and Premier League Champion not have that say De Bruyne does, in your opinion?

Btw what was the offer Leicester rejected in January? Feels like we are about to go higher than that bid was...

Relaxed for both this and jorginhos signing as they are not going to the world cup.

Though Liverpool's early action in the market caught me by surprise

I already said Mahrez is a very good player and I'm happy to have him add depth.

But I'm not going to indulge in some ridiculous hyperbole and call him a GREAT player.

I think it's pretty obvious why I'm not accepting the statement ''Mahrez' is a great player' but you insist on being cute and ask me to 'quantify' what constitutes 'great' as if throwing numbers is how footballers are judged to be great or not. I've also given examples of players that I think are great, by what I see on the pitch.

How did you judge players to be great prior to this stats explosion in this decade? Do reckon you can perform the same intuitive analysis on Mahrez and honestly tell us you think he's a 'great' player?

World class, that doesn't apply to many players, the rest are various stages of great or crap
Like I said, the word great seems to be thrown around rather loosely nowadays to the point it's been diluted in significance compared to stuff like 'world class', as if that's not always been synonymous with 'great' anyway.

Winning the League and POTY aren't exactly stats are they?

Do those, deserved, honours not mean much? Because if you take away stats then that's pretty much what Kev has to his name.

I like how you threw in Kroos to be "cute" yourself, almost hipster like, with your list. Despite the obvious blindspot in your footballing "knowledge" being in the same league as ourselves.

You said I had to proof why I may believe he's great and I offered honours and statistics to asert as much. Yet when I aak you the same to counter it, you refuse?

I'm judging him by watching him play, not looking up Whoscored.com, whereas you've a slight superiority complex it seems because he plays for little ol' Leicester.

He more than deserves to be in the same bracket as the perceived best wingers in Europe.

The way i see it is that Marhez is as good an attacking wide player as both Sterling and Sane...better goal scorer at least than both and equally as gifted a dribbler.....his work rate will be put to the test but thats more of a question of attitude than ability in all players and he must know what Pep will expect.

I think Sane will be better one day but at present he isn't.

Interesting standards you have sir. Mahrez is in the same bracket as Ronaldo, Neymar, Salah, Hazard etc. according to you.

Not sure how to argue with a mind like that. Been fun wasting my time in this discussion.

Was Salah in that list last summer ? Right time right club elevated Salah , Majrez has the talent Salah has whether he can make the jump who knows not you or any of us, but it wouldnt. Surprise me though.

Seeing as he's out performed Hazard the past few seasons then most certainly. I will never cease to be amazed at the infallible aura Hazard has generated throughout his time at Chelsea.

And yes, the Mo Salah who prior to this season was putting up not too dissimilar numbers. Yet, it's not about stats with you sure, so you can't just judge Salah off of one year so again, most definitely I'd include him alongside him.

And Ronaldo, a player who shares his own level with only Messi, alas he's not as good as either of them. What a crime, he's just like Hazrad and Salah and Neymar and every other player in that regard then...

What a prized cockwomble you are.

You're obviously one of those people who loves an underdog and can't see objectively as a result of it.

Haha, to think you consider Mahrez should be amongst the best wingers in the world. I imagine you don't even feel any shame saying that. Good stuff.

Hardly post ban hammer wielding!

Your an absolute dungeon of the dragons fat virgin who knows nothing about football if Mahrez isn't a great player. Have you ever played football in your life?

You remind me of a pupil who goes school and has to sit a subject for five years then because he was a arrogant boring **** got a decent grade.

Waste
