World Cup VAR

It's weird how many are against VAR.

It has been brilliant at this World Cup. Without it Spain would have gone out (wrongly) and Germany might well have stayed (wrongly) based on the original decisions.

The only really wrong decision was the pen against Portugal - which was down to the referee rather than the technology and sums up exactly why we need VAR across the board.

Also as someone said above, at least you know what the decision as given for and the referee has the view everyone else has.

Just watched the 1st Korea goal against Germany and if anything the VAR added to the drama and excitement. T

Absoulutly spot on.

It’s annoying that VAR will get it right 9 times out of 10 but as soon as there’s a mistake it gets completely jumped on and the moaners come screaming out the woodwork totally forgetting how many times Refs with no help got decisions wrong.

Agree it also adds to the excitement

VAR has massively added to the entertainment in this World Cup, only thing is missing is showing it on the big screen so everyone can see what the Ref and VAR team see. Apart from that brilliant innovation which must be brought in across the board.

Brilliant I love VAR and that goal by SK that got given after VAR is why the history clubs in the premier voted not to have it this season.

You have backed yourself into a corner with the what if's and not looking at the calls it is getting right
These are the best refs in the world , can you imagine the mess our shit refs will make of it ?
Also , I give you the Aguero moment ....scores , then everyone waits around while some shit ref decides if us or Utd have won the league , no, not for me .

Is it getting it right '9 times out of 10' though?

Iran were awarded a penalty for a non-deliberate handball whilst no pen was awarded to Nigeria for virtually the same offence after both had been referred.

That's before we even start talking about the pens which weren't given to England in the Tunisia game whilst the same offence was punished in the Panama game.

It should have been far more accurate before it was introduced at a World Cup.

or he scores, assistant flags for offside and Utd have won the league, no not for me

I’m thinking a head for possible scenario’s , isn’t that what scrutinising a new rule is about ?
Us winning the league in 2012 in those circumstances will likely never happen again,it has proved it's worth this last week, problems need sorting but it's badly needed in football now there is so much riding on human eyes in a split second

When it still relies on the ref to refer it or not it will never help City, the refs in England are incompetent/bent take your pick but they would make a complete & utter shambles here.
The euphoria of scoring a goal that we all love about football will be gone forever, the time it takes is another issue . I just complicates a simple game that should be the same game in div 3 as it is in the premier league , it makes football a tiered game & that’s wrong .

What about if United scored in the last minute to win the league, but it was an offside goal but no VAR?
