Thank you Grasshopper

I read somewhere that ensuring transfers are protracted is the way Txiki tests the character of the player being sought (commitment to City's project; view regarding salary etc). By allowing the player opportunities to choose alternatives, once our offer is on the table, if they are committed to our philosophy they'll fight to join us and therefore, more likely fit in with the dynamic of our current squad. Don't know if it's true but it seems a plausible away to sort the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. It could account for why some of our dealings go on and on.

Makes business sense. One of the best things about City these days is that after years of being taken for a ride in transfer dealings we are now in a position to walk away at any time. If a player doesn't want to play for City then we don't want them in our team. It's as simple as that.

I take it we`re nearly there tolm ?
Really? Damn. I was hoping it meant we’d come to our senses, walked away, and were in advanced negotiation with Celtic to re-sign Scott Sinclair. Might cost us a bit more in the long run, it’s true, ‘cos I’m sure Celtic wouldn’t consider selling for less than £90m, (plus Roberts) but hey, sometimes you just have to go that extra mile to prove you won’t be p*ssed about by Kia & Co.

Well he is definitely coming to City !

I was told last night in a pub in Las Americas, Tenerife by a Morrocan, originally from Bordeaux, France wearing an Athletico Madrid shirt that he had read today in a Spanish paper that the deal had been done at 60 M euros & RM would officially be a City player by the weekend.

He spoke to me as I had my City shirt on & he said he was an expert on North African football & that RM is a far, far better footballer than Mo Salad. This will be a great signing for us.

Lets hope it is true !
