Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Good point LF.
What caused this change I wonder admittedly football is a bit tribal so if people are fed fake news they are likely to agree with then the media profit from it.
World Cup is currently in the news for those who do not normally follow it so maybe trending with anti RS stuff covers their ignorance.
Really is a worry that for some reason sticks with RS rather than the manager who selects him.
The internet and particularly social media has changed everything. Absolutely ruined society and a lot of wider media IMO. We are essentially now a society that is in the thrall of the opinions of fucking morons.

To anyone who thinks that Sterling scoring a hattrick would be the only thing that would get people off his back, you’re wrong.
You’d have the likes of Hoddle and the gutter hacks constantly slipping into conversations, “ he’s now got 5 goals in 40 games for England “.
I’m actually developing a hatred for some of these hacks and pundits. Not particularly for the singling out of Sterling, more for the fact that some of them have carved out a lucrative living despite knowing nothing. I hope it’s just a ploy to ingratiate themselves to the masses.
Unfortunately, what the panel on the bbc were saying about Sterling will fall on deaf ears. It’ll just be seen as ex pros saying what they have to say for the sake of harmony.

England would not be in the semifinals without the work sterling has put in, would they' rather he had scored 4 goals but then got knocked out by Columbia, its a team performance rather than in the past we have had individuals who have not wanted to pass to team mates because of which club they played for and that's why the golden generation were so shite together but never got the abuse sterling has been getting whereas they deserved it.

Not really, I come on here and challenge people when they comment on his performance. Many do it, being positive or negative yet I’m the only one who gets flack for it. Not surprising the hypocrisy in the thread though. It goes many ways.

No you don't. You come on here for your notoriety. You have turned this thread into all about you and it is you have moved every goal post possible.

Exactly....its quite poor imo that southgate hasnt verbally stuck up for him in a presser, probably wouldnt want to isolate himself though.
Except that he already has: http://www.skysports.com/football/n...217s-movement-is-crucial-to-this-england-team

Southgate clarified his position prior to the Colombia game, outlining the reasons why Sterling is not only expected to retain his place in England's starting line-up but is actually regarded by those who matter as central to the team's success. "I have great belief in him," he explained. "He has been a really important part of the team.

"In the last five or six games, with the change of system, he has been key. His movement, his ability to run at teams from deep, his interchanging of position with the other forward players is very important. At times, I have wondered why there has been such a focus on his position in the team and not others but that's the way it has been."

Almost to a man the media and the press are now supporting Sterling.
I say 'almost' to a man as Hoddle in this mornings Sunday Mail calls for
him to be dropped and replace by who?
Yes... Rashford.
Hoddle really is an odious shite of a human being. I fucking loath him.

Hoddle is Rashford's biggest fan boy and will seldom give Raheem any praise. He will also never criticise any Spurs players.

You'd have thought so as that's where they get their "thinking".

There's a good piece on Sky's web page : http://www.skysports.com/football/n...217s-movement-is-crucial-to-this-england-team

Going off the comments however it could be a while before the muppets catch up.

I think this comment must have been from Hoddle!

"If Rashford had been starting in Sterling’s place through this World Cup he’d be in contention for the golden boot by now and that is the problem with Sterling - not that he’s not good or not trying he’s just not the best man for that job"

Rashford hasn’t scored many for England either. At least sterling can say he’s not an actual striker

Luckily for England, the only game they lost was the one Raheem didn't play in. Where would they be now if he'd have played and won?
