We might look stupid if the info we had turns out to be bolloxs, doesn't mean it was a mistake to do it

C'mon Kaz, the only reason we are even debating this is because City chose to brief that the Chelsea reports were untrue and a ruse.

We know what info they were told by either his agent or Jorginho, as they chose to share it.

The mistake isn't to be taken in by a lie, you can accept people at their word, the mistake was then deciding to brief the info, not legislating for even a moment that it could be a lie.

This is more about City bring able to show they are in command of the situation and know all the facts, before lending their name to it.

You don't seem to grasping the argument?

City would only brief what they did if they had spoken to someone who is directly involved in the up-to-date landscape - that would either be the agent or the player - nobody else.

From all my 30 plus years working in and around the media, City shouldn't be taking their word for it, regardless of whether they believe they are bring told the truth or not.

Hence, City had no need to expose themselves to the possibility of them being lied to.

If Chelsea is his destination, all we have done is make ourselves look stupid and totally out of the loop.

And let's be having it right, agents and players lie all the time, so all we had to do was brief nothing and try and get the deal done.

thankyou Tolmie...I wasnt doing a very good job of getting my point across!

If he turns up at Chelsea then we briefed a lie, when there was no need to do so, never mind trusting the word of any agent or player, which is amateurish in the extreme.

City must either be 100 per cent certain he is our player or accept they have dropped a bollock.
Makes us look a bit amateurish if that’s the case, two things we either have been played all along wasting our time,or he’s had his head turned with more money for him and agent..

Are you saying our highly skilled club didn't weigh up the pro's and cons before putting out that briefing?

Between the reports coming out in Italy and us briefing, was a matter of hours.

Someone might well have done, but they haven't done their job very well, as only a certainty Jorginho would be a City player would justify it.

Anything else, there is absolutely no need to brief the Chelsea reports were a ruse.

Regardless of where the player ends up, all City had to brief, if anything, was that negotiations were still ongoing and leave it at that.

I don't think he is coming here, haven't for a while,we'll move on and a briefing will soon be forgotten,i don't get the blame game when a deal falls through,it happens all the time

Dropped a bollock like I said earlier we have been caught good & proper both by ADL & Abramovic.

City have been kicked up the cooking arse....

It’s not a blame game. It’s a PR game. City had no need to expose themselves to looking stupid and out of the loop. It was an unecessary and pointless risk.

Karen, there was no blame game from me...I personally said many times I dont blame the club for missing on Jorginho and dont look to find fault with everything but I stand by my opinion that the brief was wrong and believe it was a mistake to say what we did. Tolmie is just alot better at saying it than I am...

I don't blame City for any deal falling through, I do have a major issue with highly paid media execs limiting the exposure to our club in terms of it suggesting our negotiators are incompetent.

Especially when they didn't have to. Whether Txiki told them or not, the job of the media team is to protect him and City through their 'expertise'.

We know full well that some posters on here Kaz really enjoy blaming Txiki for anything and everything.
Tell me about it,i'm not a txiki appologist but sometimes it has to be said he is doing a grand job,we have signed Mahrez after a long chase for much less than they wanted in jan,if this deal doesn't come off then so what,it happens, the football game won't be laughing at us putting out a statement that might be wrong,it's a bit more grown up than that
