First time I can ever remember Man Utd just not bothering to compete and be the best they can. They may have had some poor seasons, but each Summer they've always been there trying to improve. They finished 19 points behind us. Their team had obvious shortcomings. They are the most powerful club in England. They have chosen not to compete with City. They are doing a Wenger. Settling for top 4 because they don't rate their chances of success. Ultimately I think it comes down to their lack of confidence in Mourinho but if that's the case then they should have changed coach.

I’d love to know whether: (a) they’re reluctant to back PEG with yet more big transfer money but too limp-wristed to get rid, or (b) they’ve become an Arsenal, content with top four and making a profit. If I were a rag (and thank fcuk I was born with a brain) I’d be pretty worried.
