Spurs’ new stadium

Do we actually have a say in this? We shouldn't be having anything to do with moving this fixture from its allocated date/time. If spuds want to do it, then we shouldn't be inconvenienced one little bit because they can't (or blatantly lied to the PL) organise a stadium build.

Our fixtures around this time are:

October 2018
02-03/10/2018 [CL2]
Sun 07/10/2018 16:30 - Liverpool (A) [SKY]
08-16/10/2018 [International Matches]
Sat 20/10/2018 15:00 - Burnley (H)
23-24/09/2018 [CL3]
TBA was 28/10/2018 16:00 - Tottenham Hotspur (A) [SKY]
30-31/10/2018 [FLC4]

November 2018
Sat 03/11/2018 15:00 - Southampton (H)
06-07/10/2018 [CL4]
Sun 11/11/2018 16:30 - Manchester United (H) [SKY]
12-20/11/2018 [International Matches]
Sat 24/11/2018 15:00 - West Ham United (A)
27-28/11/2018 [CL5]

I can't see the game being played on the Monday at Wembley. The NFL are removing their stuff from Wembley on Monday and there is a league cup game on Tue/Wed (see above). The pitch will be a bloody disgrace for football as well and will probably need replacing on the Monday (see Spurs / Rochdale FA cup replay last season).

If the game is that week then more likely the league cup tie will be on the Monday the Spurs game on Wed.
OR
The league cup tie on the Mobday and the Spurs game played on Thur if our Southampton (H) game is moved to the following Sunday (the Spurs away game at Wolves has already been shifted to the Sunday @13:30)
OR
The League cup game could be played on the previous Friday if the weekend game for our League Cup opponents is shifted (and the preceding Champions League games are on the Tuesday - though this is unlikely as we will probably be paired with Spurs - so both teams will play on different days).

As this is Spurs' own problem, of their own making, then it is surely irrelevant as to where it is played, other than it has to be somewhere with a Premier League quality pitch & facilities for the teams,PL level health & safety, & a reasonable allocation of seated tickets for City supporters ? Then it's their job, to compensate their own supporters ?

So it needn't be in London or at a Premier League ground or indeed a 'big' ground, surely, just somewhere the game can be played, which suits us ?

The stadium build has been / is being organised by Mace, not Spurs.

Nor have Spurs “blatantly lied to the PL”. Until this serious issue with the safety systems was brought to light last week, there was every expectation within the club that the stadium would be ready to open for the LIverpool game on September 15th.

That's fine for them, if we all want to make them feel better about themselves, but it's their stadium, their plan, their time schedule & their responsibility, to provide a stadium fit for Premier League football on the agreed date.

If you can't accept the consequences of failling to fulfil that, don't build it. Otherwise, it's their fault & we shouldn't accept anything which we are not comfortable with.

This has been dealt with earlier in the thread by poster's with well informed knowledge. You can't hide behind Mace as you didn't give them the project to manage lock, stock and 10,000 electrical circuits. Your club has fucked up and the ones paying the price are City and our supporters.

Absolutely. It’s Spurs’ responsibility alone to ensure that they can host the game on the advertised date. I was merely correcting the inaccuracies in the post that I quoted.

By the way, despite all the debate in this thread, there is no confirmation yet that the new stadium will not be ready by 28th October.

3rd home ground in the same season isn’t an option ... so it’s ether Wembley or their own ground ...

If Tottenham played us at the Emirates or the London Stadium etc that would only be their 2nd home venue of the season. It then gives them till August 2019 to finish the new stadium.

What has been dealt with? Mace are responsible for hiring the subcontractors who have fucked up in this instance. The subcontractors are responsible for the fuckup.

And, I repeat, no one is “paying the price” for anything yet. The game hasn’t yet been moved.

That's fine then.

But if it isn't, we would be the injured party & should not accept anything which inconveniences us. Somewhere in the country, there will be a ground which fits Premier League requirements, available to host the game & if it only holds 20k, that would be Spurs' problem not ours.

No Mace are a construction partner (so Spurs are jointly liable with Mace) and Levy has been micromanaging the project. As such, Spurs are 100% responsible.

Ah cheers. Now you’ve said that it rings a bell.
Fuck that if we are the team that has to pay the price. I believe City have made the Premier League and FA well aware of this point.
Monday night would probably be just about OK if the pitch was playable. It won't be and will need to be relaid. It took TWO days for Wembley to do that for the Rochdale replay and it still cut up a bit.

They are now suggesting the Monday after the schedule’d date for the game at Wembley.

Now being reported in the papers that Spuds want to play the game Monday nightat Wembley on a dodgy pitch which would knock our Caraboa Cup match to the Thursday and our league game to the Sunday, the one problem and certainly why City wont agree it (yet) is that we than have a Champs League game which could be scheduled for the Tuesday. All this potential disruption because of a penny pinching miser.
