Spurs’ new stadium

K.4.1 might explain why they haven't yet confirmed that the new stadium won't be ready for our game. It seems to specify that if they can't play all league games at Wembley ( which they clearly can't) then they can't play any there.

The rules. Particularly relevant K.5 and K.6

I don't see how they can play at two different grounds during the season.
I doubt anyone could object if they played at Wembley but if they play there, they have to play all their
games there in my opinion.

Ownership of Ground and Training Facilities
K.3. Each Club shall either own its Stadium and training facilities or have a legally
enforceable agreement with its owner for its use by the Club, expiring not earlier
than the end of the current Season.
Ground Sharing
K.4. No Club shall have or enter into a ground-sharing agreement in respect of its
Stadium unless the agreement contains legally enforceable provisions to the effect
that:
K.4.1. the playing of the Club’s League Matches at the Stadium shall always take
precedence over the activities of the other party to the agreement; and
K.4.2. the Club shall have the ability to postpone other activities scheduled to
take place on the pitch in the 48 hours immediately preceding the kick-off
of a League Match where, in the reasonable opinion of the Club, there is a
risk that such activity might result in the subsequent postponement or
abandonment of the League Match.
Ground Registration
K.5. Each Club shall register its Stadium with the Board and must play all matches in the
competitions listed in Rule L.9 for which it is the Home Club at the Stadium. No Club
shall remove to another Stadium (either on a permanent or temporary basis) without
first obtaining the written consent of the Board, in accordance with Rule K.6, below.
K.6. In considering whether to give any such consent, the Board shall have regard to all
the circumstances of the case (including, but not limited to, the factors set out in this
Rule K.6) and shall not consent unless reasonably satisfied that such consent:
K.6.1. would be consistent with the objects of the League as set out in the
Memorandum;
K.6.2. would be appropriate having in mind the relationship (if any) between the
locality with which by its name or otherwise the applicant Club is
traditionally associated and that in which such Club proposes to establish
its Stadium;
K.6.3. would not to any material extent adversely affect such Club’s Officials,
Players, supporters, shareholders, sponsors and others having an interest
in its activities;
K.6.4. would not have a material adverse effect on Visiting Clubs;
They applied to the fa for an exemption and no other clubs had a problem with them doing it so it was passed

You mean for the first 3 games? I didn't realise that they had permission to play just 3 games at Wembley before returning to the Lane. That's a big concession, and must have used up goodwill. Now there's another problem, our fixture. The latest suggestion is to play it at the Lane if possible with some stands closed. Not sure how realistic that is, and surely that prejudices other clubs. Would Liverpool be happy that City went to a difficult away fixture and played in front of a half empty home stadium, or if they played the game at another London ground.

I think a postponement is most likely but that's disruptive to City.

Yes why should we suffer for their problems. The later it goes the worse the fixture congestion will get.

Can the NFL game be switched to Cardiff and our can carry on at Wembley?

Whatever the outcome some fans will be pissed off but I'd rather it was the NFL types.

Would be Ok if they could find a slot which isn't surrounded by Champions League games, domestic Cups etc. I haven't looked

Not a chance the NFL will agree to any change of venue. Wembley certainly wouldn't be able to contemplate trying to move them either.

The Sunderland and Mönchengladbach games were called off due to concern for the safety of the supporters, not because the pitch was unplayable. The cause of concern for the safety of supporters may be different but the reason for postponing would be exactly the same (Supporter Safety).

It has fucked up my plans, but Spurs aren't preventing me from using the hotel I've booked so in a court of law, I dont see what justification there is for them to give me my money back. The hotel booking is still valid. If it gets postponed then it will be my choice not to use it.

My mates had booked a hotel for Peter Kays tour and they had tickets. He cancelled the tour and they got the money for the tickets back. They've not been petitioning Peter Kay that he needs to pay them back for the hotel they no longer need.

There you go again - comparing apples and oranges. Comparing Peter Kay cancelling his tour - for personal reasons - to Spurs winging it with totally unrealistic expectations as to when their new stadium will be ready is as daft as it gets. Sure, I can understand that refunding blues for hotel costs might be asking a bit too much but travel costs should definitely be refunded and it should be Spurs forking out because it's clear as day that they've been giving misleading information regarding timescales of when the stadium will be ready. If you're happy for them to take the piss and fuck around both fans and club then that's your lookout.

Wouldn't that just mean more fans were hacked off and more logistical issues.
(For disclosure I am going to the NFL match as I know my chance of getting an away ticket is nil - but that is another issue entirely.)
There is another factor here - the cost to Spurs. They are refunding their supporters for the Cardiff and Liverpool matches and, with the additional rent and the fact that their supporters don't want to go to Wembley (the Fulham sales are poor from what I hear), they will take a bath on any stadium switch.
My hunch is that Spurs would rather postpone the City match until later in the season for the cost reason. Sky would love to have a blockbuster towards the end of the year as well.

City should push back on any switch of the match with the Etihad fixture, as well, unless we end up playing them twice at the Etihad. That would mean that we would not be disadvantaged and our home support would not be put out, as people have already made plans.

How could you prove you booked travel for the game some random person maybe going shopping in london and now has decided not to.
