Sent too soon.That was me on my S8+ instead of my iPad. I am sure some of these manifestations occurred before you could put your hand on heart and say that you loved them. I am sure you have had relationships where these happened but the bottom line was you could not say you loved them. When people ask if they are in love then they are probably not. How were you able with certitude to say that you loved them???????
Describe human love without experiencing it. Human adult love is between equals. God's love is crazy as it is between someone He created and the Creator. It is a gift. Why do some people not experience human love never mind Divine love.? Make a better PhD dissitation than, "Did the Vikings have a subjunctive case?"
Anyway I just witness to my experience.

have proved otherwise. Unless, of course, it is not so much the physical being that is reborn but rather a set of ideas that are 'reborn' through many different people, time and time again? 'History repeats itself?' It would seem so - at least until these ideas are allowed to die a death.

How can God say to his Son, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased while permitting Him to suffer an unfair trial, torture and execution? God knows? He is the God who is not afraid to get His hands nailed.

Sorry God - that makes you sound like a bit dull - unlike the brilliance of Light that some say you are meant to represent. Think I might look somewhere else but I wish you well in your smiting of people and stuff. Maybe if you decide to bring a sequel to this out, which speaks of joy and love and peace and stuff...in which each being comes to know the freedom of their own unique expression - then maybe this would be more worth a listen? Oh, and you might want to drop this idea that some people are 'more chosen' than others - that seems to drive people sort of slightly crazy. "My triangle is bigger, better and more in tune than yours!!!' is an argument that gives me a bit of a headache after a while. Anyhow, these are just are a few thoughts that you may want to consider. And, given that you meant to be 'the peace that passeth understanding,' then I figure what I have written won'r piss you off?

You're arguing that someone who is punished, only to be told "I'm only doing this because I love you," isn't being abused? Someone who is forced to do something insane using the premise "you need to do it to prove you love me," isn't being abused?

I do not know if you are a militant atheist or just someone with a mind seeking understanding. If you are the former then why ask, if the latter try seeing if you get an answer to your question from God- try prefacing your question with "God, if you exist..." or is that presenting to your mind as being silly?

the question is if such a being exists why would it operate in such way that just because you set its son up to be tortured then its ok to inflict pain and suffering on everyone else just to prove you love it. it is just ridiculous

Bottom line is God is crazy about us all. If you are not crazy about God would your pride and selfishness allow you to be in His company?

I think your confusing my pride and selfishness with your pride and selfishness. My pride and selfishness is such that I can apologise for my mistakes and I'm quite happy let my opinion be changed by evidence - in fact I encourage it. The religious are the kind of people that could be shown irrefutable proof that God does not exist, and they'd still say "well I believe he does." That is pride. That is selfishness.

The fact is that there is no evidence to suggest the existence of God, or indeed of any of the thousands of historical Gods, let alone proof that yours is the correct one. The burden of proof lies with the person making the claim of existence, and until such a time that that proof exists I will sit here and happily not believe God exists. I will continue to be a good person, not out of fear of divine retribution but because I'm not a dick.

Don't come in here and preach about God being 'crazy about us all' when there are so many problems in the world. If your God exists he doesn't give a fuck about you, and nor should you about him.

Speaking of pride and selfishness, why would I want to be in the company of someone who was so proud and selfish that unless i loved him unconditionally he'd punish me? You need to get your priorities sorted and give your head a wobble, pal.

You are so close to the truth now, and this beautiful to see. Yes!!! Can I suggest a little tweak? That any decision to turn away from Love does not mean that Love will 'punish us' - but it may mean that, through this choice we might experience life in away that is somehow 'unloving.' Yet as choose to let go of this then we find that Love loves us...because that is the very nature of its being...it couldn't be different in the same way that an apple could never be an orange! Ok, I hear you...I am being a bit of an allegorical, riddled filled twat. Fair enough, I accept this...but, with a cheeky smile, might I suggest that the biblical story of the 'return of the prodigal son' is really one of normal folk* like you and I coming to remember this Love - much more so than than a message that says there is one messiah...and 'you' are not it?

*ok maybe for you I might come across as a bit weird or sort of abnormal? But really I am just an ordinary guy that, if I walked past you in the street, you most likely wouldn't notice me. That is quite a happy place for me to be - rather than an attempt to disparage you.
