Fulham (H) - Post Match Thread

Decent game though a bit too easy. Had two blokes behind me who for the third game running did nothing but talk about work.

Had to say at half time is there any chance you can forget about work for 45 minutes. I have had 2.5 games of it now. Shut the fuck up the entire second half. Marvellous.

At least they were talking and not gawping at their mobile phones like plenty of the gormless gits near me.

Fulham deserve some respect for actually coming to try and play their game instead of parking a bus. We on the other hand, still look vulnerable at times. We really need to put the chances away we are creating. Selfish I know, but some of the opportunities, even my god daughter said she would have scored.
After Kun went off it looked like we couldn’t be arsed and it was a testimonial.
Bernardo was phenomenal. His vision and ball control is mesmerising. He shouldn’t be left out. The two Silvas ran the game tempo today, beautiful to watch, shame a couple of them didn’t have a goal at the end.
Delphinio was great today, kept his positioning well and didn’t encroach on Leroys space.
I feel we sometimes over complicate the moves and a simple pass into the goal would achieve the aim instead of trying to knock the leather off it.
AL is looking good apart from a few keystone cop style moments which will get punished by a more ruthless opponent.
Great to see Mahrez getting minutes, he certainly needs them as he looks lost at times and appears knackered. I’m sure he’ll get into his stride shortly.
At least we kept a clean sheet too.
Onwards

Really enjoyed todays game, so glad the PL is back, some of the interplay was the best of the season so far, Bernardo Silva's best game in a City shirt.

Some will argue Fulham made it easy for us but I beg to differ, they let us have the ball but many teams have done that against the rest of the top 6 and us included in previous seasons and it didn't translate to one team producing such dazzling football as we saw today. We deserved to be 5-0 up at half time if anything.

At least Fulham stuck to their principles and didn't stick 10 men behind the ball like Huddersfield, Newcastle etc. If you're going to get beat at least have a go so credit to them for that. I think they'll do ok this season

Yep when they had the ball they attacked us, I don't think they have the players to do a high press or a heavy press in general so some of the commentators gripes were off the mark for me. Sometimes you have to accept a team can only make the most of the players they have.

They'll beat most of the teams around them if they play like that. It was unlikely they'd beat us anyway so it was refreshing they didnt shit themselves and just defend the edge of their box. It doesn't work anyway, Huddersfield tried it and we stuck 6 past them so they might as have had a go at least their fans would have been entertained

City looked especially elegant, maybe it was because we were abound with so many left footers. It was funny, from kickoff Fulham looked encouraged, City didn't touch the ball and they got a corner. Moments later City won the ball back and dispatched it into their net. Welcome to the champions ground Fulham this is how we operate. We didn't even allow time for their fans their pedantic chant of where were you when you were shit before we'd scored. Special mention to Bernardo Silva, he looked like he was really enjoying himself and was asking for the ball all of the time. A superb display showing exquisite skills and was awarded man of the match from the fans. Well done Bernardo.

Bernardo Silva, quite a few tipped him to be player of the season when he signed for City. I think they may have been 1 year premature.

Cannot complaint at all, on the contrary I'm sort of chuffed
Just wish Raheem scored after that Benardinho pass and Bernardinho himself and Kun and Jesus and Riyad
Here's hoping injuries are not that serious.
Come on !

Is this English?

Who’s injured?

Who’s Bernardinho?

Why can’t you string a basic sentence together?

The trouble now for us punters on BM is finding an available "upgrade" for any of our brilliant squad. Almost unfair the level we are playing at ( i did say "almost" ) but the downside is the lack of opportunity for the youngsters, which imo is unavoidable. Most on here are keen for a home-grown hero, and whilst it would be great, perhaps it's time to see the academy as a revenue-raiser first , rather than essential to produce first team players. It does not concern me so much when the academy teams lose nowadays, because our tactic of playing well-underaged lads will pay off eventually, classic short-term pain for long-term gain. The chances of a teenager being better than a first-team player grow ever smaller. I believe a buy-back clause should be part of any transfer of those that dont find room in the 1st team squad in case of late developers.
Back on topic, Fulham were made to look poor/bemused/bewildered but they are not that inadequate against most prem teams, they will be relieved that City away was a once-a-year ordeal ( league-wise anyway).

Was sat directly behind a bunch of nobwads who spent the whole second half complaining that we just can’t score goals like we used to (used to when??) talk about entitled. Some of our support is getting more raggish by the day instead of enjoying the gifts on offer every game now

Imagine how bad they must have felt after getting home and being informed by some moron on BT that Liverpool and Chelsea are running away with the league at the top.

Very subdued in the stands for a Saturday 15:00. Fulham fans sang all second half, we... didn’t!

The game was fairly entertaining. I knew Fulham would come at us and were nice to watch, played some good stuff and especially played well in transition from defence to attack.

We played well but didn’t get out of second gear. The last half hour of the game we stopped playing and just had an easy training session.
