Liverpool (A) Post Match Thread

Typical City. We must be the only team to get a penalty at Anfield this century and we bloody miss it to win the game.
Still a good result and a better one for us than them.

Odd game.

It was both one point gained and two points lost.
Poor performance but we got a better result than the last few seasons.
We never really troubled them but they didn't really trouble us.
There were times when we looked well on top but more times when we looked utterly inept.

The penalty aside, you'd probably say the 0-0 was a fair result but it feels like a loss. Like I said, odd game.

We didn’t look utterly inept at any stage in that game mate. I don’t recall them really having any serious chances to score or them troubling us.

A huge improvement on last season v these and in no way ‘inept’.

Well said. You wouldn’t think we were! There’s so many half empty glass folk on here. We’re top of the league having played 2 of the top four away from home!!
And all done without King Kev for all but half an hour of one game this season.

And may I say, to all the scouse-sh*t heads out there who were glorifying in DeBruyne’s misfortune, earlier on this season, and crowing that it would bring them some sort of undeserved advantage

‘AVE THAT YOU SCOUSE SCUMBAGS!!

“RAHEEM STERLING, STILL TOP OF THE LEAGUE. STILL TOP OF THE LEAGUE. STILL TOP OF THE LEAGUE!.. (Even Without KDB)

OK
My first argument in 6 years on Bluemoon.

My point was to mention AGAIN the best man for the job.
I've explained myself, even for the ones who couldn't see it, but you deliberately misconstrue....

Pep and Mahrez have dropped one. We have to deal with it. Mahrez (bar a penalty shootout or injuries) won't be taking one, for a bit.

Is that your sense, in cubic centimetres?

If it amuses you. It’s a sign of defeat when you have to resort to personal comments.
Look back at your first post, then your second post & tell me it all makes sense.

On second thoughts this is so boring let’s stop it. You can continue to crucify Mahrez & I can continue to support him & Pep.

From SSN main page:

Riyad Mahrez blazed over a late penalty as Man City missed the chance to end Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season in a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

Did I miss something—are we not still unbeaten?

I know what they have said is technically correct, but the implication is still stupid. Everything has to exalt them.

They can’t exhalt them being 3rd and us 1st

This fixture was so over hyped that it seemed devastating to not win but as calmer heads have said it was one of our better performances and a hell of a lot better than last year. I would have bitten your hand off for the draw beforehand and feel much better about the result now. Whatever the story behind the pen I hope Mahrez shakes it off quickly and gets back to integrating himself into our style of play.

That Van Dijk one was a foul in my opinion. It was the correct decision. As was the one on Jesus.

I thought the Aguero one was.

I will watch the VVD one again on the TV but he definitely handballed it. Maybe fouled b4? Doubt it but will see...
The Aguero one Lovren kicks him and NOT the ball

Given how things played out, we should have won - and it’s disappointing on that basis that we didn’t properly put them back in their box. But let’s not make any mistake - it’s a far, far better result for us than them.

Defo handballed it but was off balance due to the jump by Fernandinho. I thought it wasn’t a bad decision that one. Some refs may still have given a pen and they may have got one had it been the other way around in front of the Kop but I think he got that right.

Some would argue not though.

There were parts of that game where we couldn't string two passes together, where we were hoofing the ball aimlessly, simple passes we normally make with our eyes closed going astray. But overall I'm pleased that we seemed to find a way to neutralise them at last, even if that was at the cost of our normal fluency.

Gotcha. I

Wow that's surprising. The most prepared manager in the world doesn't know who can take pens and who cant. I guess nobody is perfect. Pep is pretty damn close though!

It’s not just down to Pep he has a vast entourage of coaches and analysts who look at everything in depth. It’s hard to imagine that not one of then thought of looking at players PK stats. Schoolboy error by Pep and his coaching staff. Heads should roll, but not Pep obviously coz he’s quite good.

Lovren didn't touch the ball and made contact with Aguero, the ball is still there in close quarters to be won. Being the player he is Sergio tries to create a chance for himself. It shouldn't matter what the players reactions are, if they play on or protest has no bearing on the action. The players don't decide the outcome, imagine if they did....

I know Lovren didn't touch the ball.
The truth is referees don't give penalties very often,if at all, when a player tries to stay on their feet when fouled.

If that foul had been at the other end and Salah was on the end of it,my feeling would be that the ref would have called it,a "home" penalty if you like.

Enough said.
