If it keeps the scum off the streets to enable law abiding citizens to have a decent life then yes I do. Where is the evidence to show that convicted criminals are receiving longer sentences and actually serving them?

I occasionally am reminded about reading an article a few years back that measured what the public think a sentence will be for a given crime, and what it really is. People systematically underestimated the actual sentences handed out, presumably because the only times it ever comes to our attention is when some muppet is over-lenient to howls of outrage. I wish I could find the survey, it was really rather startling.

Good to see the council really helping the homelessness issue by rough sleeper proofing the town hall where the arches where the fire exits are on the Princess Street side of the building. Surely our council should be helping the homeless not pushing them onto sleeping in someone else’s doorway?

They may be trying but they’ve don’t want homeless people being seen round the town hall and the library. Metal fences have been up round the concrete benches at the front of the library, now this.

Of course they dont. There some of Manchesters most iconic buildings and most important tourist attractions. Less visitors to the City, equals less investment and that is only likely to exacerbate the homeless issue. Its sad but a hard reality of life.
