I'm not anti-Spurs at all but you can't help thinking they will ultimately pay a big price for this monumental cock-up.

Thanks for the reply. I think you’re acknowledging in relation to his first ‘mistake’ that he was negligent, but feel free to contradict me if my analysis of your response is wrong.

Jim is saying the complete opposite. Levy acted in good faith on the advice of Mace - experts in stadium design. He had a workable contingency in place should their advice not prove correct. And he executed the contingency plan perfectly when he needed to.
That is not negligent. That is excellent management.
Are there lessons to be learnt. Sure. Is Levy negligent? No. Not at all.

How impressive a stadium looks is fairly inconsequential really. It's a nice to have but not a game changer. What really matters to a club is how big the capacity is, can you fill it often enough and how much you can charge for tickets.The Swamp is a hotch potch of design but what really matters is that it is the biggest club stadium.
Spurs have hugely over-specified and over spent on their new ground and it looks like it will be a financial drain for decades to come.
When the North Stand extension is complete we will have a bigger capacity than every club except the Rags at a fraction of the cost of the Spurs stadium.

It wouldn't surprise me, i went past it the other day, it looks nowhere near finished.
The new club shop is open but there were more staff than customers.

The contingency plan may have been workable, but it was manifestly inadequate - as evidenced by the cabbage patch pitch and huge and egregiously discourteous inconvenience and expense to City fans the other week.
Acting in good faith on the word of anyone in the construction game, without making adequate (rather than workable) contingencies, is negligent in my book. The construction industry is replete with bullshitters, liars and charlatans at all levels. Anyone who doesn't appreciate this is a mug - and therefore, if holding a position of seniority, negligent.
The quality of the stadium has never been in doubt. The cockerel on top of the stand is good.

Well. Only time will tell. But if the London NFL franchise ends at the new stadium with all the riches that come with it then it would look a good decision.
And if the NFL franchise and a top 6 premier league side as part of the same brand is attractive to a big investor (for instance Facebook) then it will look even better.
On the other hand the banks could force Spurs into administration and they would have to start again as FC Spurs sharing a ground with Enfield.
I prefer the option where they can compete with United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Haha. You are saying that Mace are 'bullshitters, liars and charlatans'? And any reasonable person should have know that? You are stretching to prove this negligent point. Perhaps you are trying to make the point that Levy is a mug. That is different to being negligent.
It does look great but at £800m I would expect 3 x Etihad, but it's going to be smaller.
