Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Has @franksinatra ( piers Morgan), had his say. If you read the first few pages of this thread you will read what this BLUE believes.
I would like to know if he still believes there is not a tad of a racial element in the reporting.

While most blues having been posting the truth for a long while.
I see little wrong with what @franksinatra believed on the first few pages.

His claims, were thoughtful, measured, and supported with comparative examples and facts.

The irony in your post is however quite interesting.

His claims, being thoughtful, measured and supported with compararituve examples and facts, is your opinion and not a fact as you stated.
In Britain in the last few days there has been finally, an acknowledgement of the bias and agenda Raheem had suffered by certain elements of the press.
Frank has continually failed to recognise the role of the British media in creating and reinforcing racial stereotypes and institutional bias.
This is my opinion based on my academic knowledge of the British press, owned by a handful of billionaires with agendas of their own.
Frank has continually failed to see any bias, mocking many posts, it has taken a brave stance by Raheem, and the support of an accelerating number of profesionals, to finally highlight the hurt caused by sections of the media.

Tyrone Mings has cancelled an interview with Talksport because of the way they covered the Sterling story.

Good for him.

Unfortunately, people only see what they want to see. Especially, when they can't help reinforce their own prejudices.

Not referring to Frank by the way, but certainly a few other liars who post on BM.

This part of the Sun's defence (from its leader column quoted elsewhere in the Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/dec/11/the-sun-newspaper-reporting-sterling-race .

“Let’s get something straight. The racist abuse of Raheem Sterling at Chelsea is not somehow The Sun’s fault. We hope those allegedly responsible get what they deserve."

This is of course true in that people are rational human beings who know they are reading an opinion piece, a newspaper. None of the Sterling articles which the Sun and Mail and other papers are of explicitly racist but as Sterling points out they continually target him and the result is that they change people's perceptions of the player.

The Sun, or any newspaper does not advocate racist abuse, but surely they must accept that racism, in this case alleged abuse, stems from ideas and that is the nature of their business?

Their newspaper, and many others continually writes articles about Raheem's lifestyle and they continually cover articles about immigration. It's like throwing a stone into a pond, the ripples spread out and carry their message into society . Of course it is then up to rational people to accept or reject those ideas, and it is another step entirely to take on particular viewpoint and then verbally criticise someone so no I would accept they are not directly responsible for anyone's actions, but they do contribute to the political climate in this country in its widest sense.

I was listening to Carragher yesterday who used to share a dressing room with Raheem Sterling and he said the public perception of the player was of a brash young man who was obsessed with material things but the Raheem he knew was a very quiet man who just wanted to play football. Who shapes that public perception?

There's still quite a big step to take from portraying someone as brash, materialistic etc and then someone abusing that person, so in that sense they have a point, however any newspaper who pump out anti-immigrant argument day after day, and whose society pages write about black players is contributing to the ideas some people hold.

I often wonder about the views of certain posters. Difficult to know whether it is ignorance, a lack of education, or something more sinister.

Turns out everbodies favourite racist Mr Colin Wing worked for BT - it was shown on BT Sport - no wonder he had been sacked by Monday morning lol - and he has previous form - see the other thread for details

The Sun have the same view as a Piers Morgan - not surprised wasn’t he Editor of that shit. You can single people out, run them down, criticise them all you want, treat them differently to everyone else but as long as you don’t use the N word in the article - where’s the problem. They are dinosaurs and thick to boot.

This might have been posted before, but this is one of the most ridiculous statements I`ve ever read. "We hugely admire Sterling`s talent". PMSL. The Sun absolutely HATES him, but they will never accept responsibility if anybody confronts them

What’s that snake Roan doing inside our training ground I thought /hoped he was banned.

From the moment raheem signed for us this has been nothing but a systematic witch hunt from the scouse loving media to the dozens of ex-Liverpool player's who couldn't wait to put the boot in,and not one of them should have a clear conscience in this whole sordid and disgusting affair.
To be fair Jamie Carrick, only today he stated that people needed to know the real Raheem as he was one of the least flash players, did not do bling and was always the one young player wanting to learn more whilst at Liverpool.
Pity he didn`t talk to all the fucking other snakes from Anfield before they hung him out to dry.
However it was a very sincere Jamie IMO.

‘Off field behaviour’

That sums them up, Sterlings off field behaviour seems pretty normal. It’s not like he’s balotelli. He’s been the nationwide scapegoat for years, these ****s are one of the organisations responsible. The Sun and Liverpool FC, who would believe them two organisations would be responsible for a young lad to receive abuse at almost every stadium in England? They suit each other, fucking rats.

was also one of the first to slag him at the time.
