I love how calm he is with the ball at his feet, but is no one else bothered that he could easily have given them a crucial goal at 1-1 when he dribbled past their striker within a yard of the goal line? That was pretty reckless if you ask me, and I hope Pep has a word. If we'd gone 2-1 down again after taking the lead, that could have ended very differently.
I dont think he wanted to do that. It was a poor first touch, what is rare for him, and he had dribble.

Thats the beauty of eddie and why we brought him

I still maintain he is a world class keeper and his shot stopping ability is sorely underrated by many.

Oh, and he isn’t half bad with the ball at his feet and a forward scratching his bollocks.

You could see Vinny not being too comfortable in that passage (not the one above), but fair play to him, he played his part well.

Eddy is absolutely cool hand luke - expressionless afterwards too - love him

Very much so.

His decision making remains erratic of late, though.
It seems to happen most often when we’ve set out a non-first choice pairing in front of him, to be fair.

I think it regularly comes down to him not quite knowing what those in front of him will do. Still, he should have probably expected Vinny to clear that ball last night.

Laporte Stones pairing makes him less out of position because they link up in triangles well

Agreed.

I think he is much more comfortable with the first choice pairing for that reason, and the fact that he is more familiar with their pattern of decision making. He mostly knows what they will do.

Goal line decisions in matches against the Dippers aside. ;-)

Not his best game but he makes Alison look like Mangala on the ball. The number of times Alison fucked up a pass.

I'm surprised more hasn't been made of the save near the end of the game, where the ref waved on two fouls in our final 3rd to allow Salah through on goal. I suppose that's what you get when the highlights skip over most of the good things our players did. They didn't forget to mention Alisson's recovery/block on Aguero I seem to remember.

We'd have been fuming for the rest of the season had Eddie not kept his cool and got his angles right. He made it as difficult as possible for Salah and got a hand to the eventual shot, to help it out for a corner.

That was worth 2 points right there. He hasn't had to show it often but that was an example of him being cool off the ball, for the shot stopping side of the game, when it really matters.

Totally agree, fantastic finger touch save glanced over by the media

Thought so too. But I think he wiffed on one ball earlier in the game and that might have made him tentative later on.

Yeah I think that won’t have helped as it almost cost us. I think that is one area of his game he can improve on but it comes with age and experience I think that one.
