Nice to see Pep in good form before Chelski, Mendy has taken all the pressure off City for Sunday with his Instagram antics this morning, and Pep took full advantage of the gutter press and diverted away from Chelsea n title challenge talk, his jumper also a major talking point, all the pressure off this Sunday now, well done Pep n Mendy.

All well and good - if this was a planned media diversion - which it almost certainly wasn't.

Great respect for the man. He always seeks answers and is not afraid to shake things up until he finds solutions. I didn't really appreciate this point until my Chelsea mate with whom I was watching the game said to me, Sarri always comes up with this predictable line up. Only thing that changes is Barkley and Kovacic. I began to recall how Pep tried Laporte at LB bringing Otto and Stones to play to solve the LB situation and also him moving Bernado up top to solve the problem of Sane's poor form.

A genius he is indeed.

I love Pep in a good mood...

I realise this is a really stupid discussion/splitting hairs but...

Both of them are wrong IMO. Pep won 3 trophies in his first season. The journalist has added on the Supercups from the next season (weird - no one would say we won the community shield last season, we won it this season) and Pep's added the Club World cup from December 2009 on top - and there's no way that's part of the 08/09 season.

The confusion would appear to arise from a misunderstanding over the words season and year. The journalist uses the word season but Guardiola is thinking in terms of a calendar year. I have no idea if that is common in Spanish/Catalan culture, and as you point out it does not transfer smoothly into English, but there is evidence for it here on FC Barcelona's own site:

"Josep Guardiola was a meticulous manager who saw to the tiniest of details. He got ready for every game with videos of the opposition and never thinks beyond the next match. He was a brilliant motivator who brought the best out of each player in his squad. This philosophy of football led to his success as first team boss, when the team had their best year in the history of the Club winning the Spanish League and Copa double, the Champions League, both the European and Spanish Super Cups and the Club World Cup in the year of the six titles."

Pep on the Newport tie.

The home crowd was amazing, winning here, I realise English football today better than ever and how tough the cup is in these conditions. They use their points where they are better than us. That is why I am so delighted with how we have played here today.

about friggin time.

No one has ever accused Pep of being a quick learner...

Can't say we didn't warn him.

Luckily, these days it's not John Fashanu or Ian Wright/Mark Bright on the end of this stuff every week, or our squad would need adjusting somewhat.

It's probably me, but I don't understand your post.

The guy oozes class. He'll be as hard to replace as Aguero.

Pep is saying he has realised how difficult it is on tricky pitches against long ball, or aerial football & now apreciates it more.

I'm saying Newport County was like walking through a children's playground compared to how it was when those players were playing that kind of football & they would scare our defenders to death.

Don't think they'd scare Vinnie (if fit...) but they would be a different challenge.
