i once had a boss with a lot of his characteristics. Intense, driven, tactile, super demanding, very very clever and good at his job. I learned more from him than anyone else I have ever met. Boy was it hard work though, after three years of it I had had enough. Every time you thought you had reached the peak of performance, the bar went up again. Poor guy dropped dead with a heart attack at 64.

You saw at Bayern that a small number of players had had enough at the end of year three. We have seen a couple of players with unexplained performance dips this season. Who knows? It may happen with us and is a risk we face in getting him to stick around for longer than his contract imo.
He is a grump as well. Especially with idiot reporters.

The man will never get the recognition he deserves in this country - unfortunately he didnt manage Utd or Liverpool or any of the establishment teams, but he's changed the face of football in this country and even our international game has improved. And yeah, on top of that he's a top bloke.

Klopp for all his gurning and grinning, is proving to be a bit of a shit when it comes to "sportsmanship",

What was up with the subs tonight? KDB needed to come off ten minutes before he did...he literally sat down at the end from how exhausted he was. Totally inexplicable.

I watched this pan out. As soon as he showed signs of being tired (I think he lost a 50/50) then Pep got Mahrez ready and he stood waiting to go on. But the ball didn't go out of play for 6-7 minutes and in the end Kev went to ground.

I don't know about this at all , mate. The media absolutely fawn over Pep. Pretty much everyone in the country lauds him as a genius.

After his fist year in charge many on this forum were questioning him - insisting that he needed to prove himself - that we needed to win the title for Pep to be considered successful. Which I thought was bullshit.

The team he inherited was woefully unsuited to his style.

And yet, he entirely rebuilt our squad in his second season - shoring up all of our weaknesses - moving players on who did not fit - and commanding respect of the team. Consequently we won the league by a country mile - Centurians. Honestly, I didn't at all expect us to win so soon under Pep - I thought it would take another year.

Now in his third season - Pep continues to impress. Our squad remains hungry for trophies - no fall off at all after winning the title.

Pep's motivational skills - ability to identify and recruit young talent - and tactical/strategic nous are second to none.

We have the world's best manager leading our squad - I just hope that Pep remains interested in managing us for a long, long time.

Anyway, since no one has addressed it, I might as well fall on the sword.

I've been waiting and watching since the beginning of the season and so far, whenever teams make a concerted effort to permanently double team our wingers, we almost find it impossible to break thru.

Pep has yet to solve this tactics. Thankfully not all English managers are adopting this tactic.

Hopefully, the reinstated and rounding into form Kev can change that dynamic. Coz right now we are dependent on Raz, Sane, Mahrez ( when hot grandstanding) and Berny to brwakdobr players on the winbw.

The thing with that tactic is that when the winger return the ball back to the CM, and in this case Silva/Bernardo/Ferna/Gundo, they always seem a step/pass slow in moving the ball again. Whenever someone is doubled, that means somebody has to be open somewhere, and they have to find it fast. The only player of ours who would consistently do this is Kev imo. See Kev's pass to Jesus last game, only he would pass that quickly. Silva and the others would massage the ball for a bit first before passing. Gundo managed to alleviate this a little bit by doing that lob passes as well but he needs to do it more often. I think as Kev gets his fitness up, we'll see teams moving off of this tactic pretty soon. I reckon Pep knows how to beat this tactic, he just didn't have the personnel to execute the counter to this.

Exactly this, DeBruyne's instinct is to look for the direct line breaking ball, the rest of our attacking mids first instinct is to look after the ball/retain possession. DeBruyne is so, so important to this team.

Silva does it as much as De Bruyne. Shorter passing mainly, but just as effective. He's been off the boil for a few weeks now so is doing it a bit less, but that's his game.
