FA Cup Semi Final draw - Brighton

There are only maybe 4000 blues who are going to Wembley, Spurs and Palace which leaves 29000 blues, myself included, who only have one trip to Wembley to pay for so I don't think the price of a trip to Wembley is the reason why we didn't sell out.

The club have spent a decade alienating our core fanbase and trying to attract middle class families with high disposable income with no real emotional connection to City many of whom obviously couldn't be arsed cancelling little Tarquin's piano lessons so they could go to Wembley

You reap what you sow
We don’t just have Wembley to pay for, we also have:
Seasoncard
Wembley
Spurs CL home tie
The presumption we’d have the FA Cup final ticket to pay for as well as just recovering from paying for Wembley last month
Travel and extra costs for the home games we have coming up and just gone

Cup final tickets last year were again eye watering.

£45 up in the gods
£70 next pricing range so most of lower tier
£115 next
£145 top priced.

Best start saving!!!

Brilliant post. Well said mate
I’m getting absolutely bored to tears of the Bernardo chant. Which is a shame as it’s a great chant but, fucking hell come on lads, we’ve got dozens of chants. Anyone would think we had to get a thousand blasts of it to all win a grand each yesterday.

#3007 turned out to be way off.

Great support.

How about the media turn their attention from empty seats towards the ticket pricing

I'm not making light of the cost but the real issue is that the demographic has changed. As recently as the title run in 11/12 there were 50k + proper blues filling the ground, if some of them couldn't afford to go to one game, some of the others would take up the slack. Now the place is full of plastics who just can't be arsed to sing or stand up when we score or evidently make the journey to Wembley.

Our support needs to realise that singing:
Blue Moon
The Best Team In The Land
We Love You City
We’re Not Really Here
Ci-ty Ci-ty
Come On City
etc.

Is what everyone will join in with.

Not trying to get Bernardo going eighteen times in ten minutes and Empty Seats At Home fifteen times a half.

We’re a bit clueless when it comes to what songs to sing and when.

Yesterday, Gabriel Jesus scored from a de Bruyne cross and three parts of Level 1 tried to get the Bernardo song going within ten seconds of each other and none of them took off. Bernardo isn’t the song to sing at that moment and it’s no surprise that people don’t join in, especially as we’d already sung it three times in the first three minutes and about ten times in the concourse before the game n’all.

Sing the core songs and everyone will join in.

And stop being so obsessive with singing new chants over everything else.

The core songs are the only ones with a chance of getting going at Wembley because of the separation of the fans in the upper and lower tiers. Its impossible to start one of the longer songs in one tier and for it to catch on in another. That doesnt just apply to City chants, its the same with other teams. The only Brighton song I could hear yesterday was "Al..bi..on, al..bi..on".

I quite like some of the newer chants, but you only ever really hear them sung loudly at away grounds where there are 3,000 City fans congregated together.

Agree. Not rocket science but seems
It is for many!

Anyone elose have a ticket with no actual seat.
Seat numbers seem to jump by 3 crossing the aisle but my ticket was one of the missing numbers.
Steward said a few like so sit where you want.
Wembley cock up, might compain.

The other thing is that the list you give are easy.

I find the Bernardo one impossible - too many words crammed in, meaning almost nothing is discernible when thousands try it, all slightly out of time.

Not sure what tune ESaH is - didn't notice that at all.

If only we could sing as loud in the stadium as the concourse. Although have to admit Wembley is a shit ground to get any songs going except for chants like blue moon!
I dunno.... Brighton fans didn't have any problems starting that beautifully crafted, witty chant of Albion...Albion.. Albion

You only have to look around you at home games to realise it's not nonsense

We still have a working class dominated support. Some have made a few quid along the way but there hasn’t been a big shift in our fanbase.

I hope we start making these so called “tourists” more welcome so that the Club continues to grow when we, for example, extend the North Stand.

100% agree. for some reason all the songs everyone knows and will join in with are now never sung. were not really here used to be great after a goal. hear it maybe once a match now. hey jude isnt sung anymore either. we need to brign these back.

There's a balance to be struck between attracting and retaining new fans and reconnecting with old school blues who don't go anymore. A City matchday now is just a paint by numbers experience with any real atmosphere sanitized out, there's nothing to differentiate it from Arsenal or Chelsea or dare I say it the rags. If we have a couple of average seasons what's to stop the new tourists decamping elsewhere.

The club pay lip service to our genuine fanbase with that absurdly voiced video they play before games while actively pricing out working class mancs. The lack of atmosphere and the empty seats are because we've attracted fans who don't feel compelled to go to less glamorous games because they have no emotional connection to City. It'll only get worse from here on in.
