United (A) Post Match Thread

A lot of squad rotation this season from Pep, more so than last season in fact. I'd like to see this stopped for the final 3 games make sure we win the league. We flow much better with the correct footed players on each wings otherwise too much cutting in slows our play down. Sterling on the right Sane on the left and Bernardo in the middle just behind the striker simple as that no messing around. Gundogan is much better too when Fernandinho or Silva aren't on the pitch.

Don't be under any illusions though we were poor last night and weren't much better last weekend against Spurs, either the players are knackered or they know they can win games by playing at 50% but it doesn't make for comfortable watching either way.

That first half.....can only put it down to "pressure", not wanting to drop a bollock in a crucial game, seemed to stifle us. Overcoming it, by playing our trade-mark style, is another step towards the very top.
Most think we are already there, and skill-wise we are, tactically we are. The last piece in the jigsaw is the mental side, not just effort and determination, we have that in abundance, but an arrogance/confidence that sickens the opposition, makes them expect to lose before a ball is kicked. I'm thinking Barce, Real Madrid, Bayerne have had it, Brazil and Dutch national teams have been there. Imo we are in touching distance of a very small elite, and thanks to the structure of the MCFG it is not a flash-in-the-pan freak, but a logical procession. No wonder the "G14" uefa mafia are shitting the bed.
You never know, people might even come and watch us..........

At least wait until dinnertime before pissing on the parade

First half was poor, second half we were much better and controlled the game for much of it.

Whatever people think about utd to go there and restrict them to one shot is good in my book.

Some people are always half empty types

It s imposible to have a conversation with one of Pep s adepts. You just have to let it go, so I will let it go. You re just an internet bully. For the future, please, stay away from my posts. Just clap with the rest of Peps witnesses. I will question him as long as I think he makes a mistake, because I care.
I won't stay away from your posts in the slightest. If you post hysterical shite, I will comment on it. As for feeling "bullied" on the internet, grow/man up ffs.

The substitution of Sane changed the game, making us more expansive. That's not to say Sane changed the game (goal aside), rather it opened us up.

I thought a midfield of Silva, Gundogan and Fernandinho made it look rather congested in the middle.

I feel the need to laud Gundogan yet again, because he gets a bit of stick on social media from City fans; possibly some of whom "didn't get" Garry Barry either.

Once Sane came on, Gundogan, the big game player, stepped up yet again.

He knows where to position himself, his awareness of his surroundings is superb and knows when and where to move for the next pass.

Fernandinho went off and Gundogan just slipped seamlessly into that slightly deeper role.

He's had an extended run in the team recently and he's been fantastic in every game and City are reaping the rewards.

I have huge admiration for those players who fulfil that type of role in the middle; Barry, Fernandinho, Kante, Makelele, Keane, etc; it is a thankless job but an absolutely critical piece of the jigsaw.

Not really pisisng on the parade mate just an honest assessment of last night. We got in good positions in the first half but were playing too much tippy tappy stuff. Don't get me wrong we improved and I'm happy we got the result but it should have been an easier game to watch than it was.

That would be boring though.

Totally agree on your assessment of Gundogan, he needs to be the main man in midfield to shine and showed how good he is once the changes were made. He stopped so many counter attacks last night and I would say he was easily our best player in the second half.

At the game last night t half time I got talking to a cockney bloke and a Canadian girl.

£500 she had paid for the 2 tickets they had for the game.

He being the gentleman had paid for the hotel. He would not confirm where, I reckon Sachas.

Anyway, she booked these back in January...

Fair play they were decked out in City shirts and scarves. :)

I didn't watch it but from I have read and seen of the highlights, I reckon Utd gave it everything in the first 30 mins and as their intensity wore off, City's quality came through.

If by grown up you mean calling people names on internet, no thank you! What about Sane coming on at 1-0?

Sums up a Perfect Night
